    The Spanish company Telefónica, through its subsidiary Telefónica Hispanoamérica, sold its Movistar Uruguay business to Millicom, a Luxembourg-based company operating under the Tigo brand, as part of its strategy to reduce its presence in Latin America. The transaction, announced to the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), is now subject to regulatory approvals.     Montevideo summons Israeli ambassador over West Bank incidents

    “I condemn all forms of violence,” Orsi insisted

    Uruguay's Foreign Ministry Wednesday summoned Israeli Ambassador Michal Hershkovitz, after fire was opened on a diplomatic delegation in the Middle East, including Uruguayan Ambassador Fernando Arroyo, during a visit to Jenin, West Bank, to assess the humanitarian situation. Although no one was injured, Uruguay demanded an inquiry and that the safety of the diplomatic personnel be ensured.

    Israel fires warning shots at diplomats in West Bank; Uruguayan ambassador part of delegation

    The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) later issued a statement saying the diplomats had “deviated from the approved route” and that soldiers fired “warning shots” to keep them away

    A group of 21 diplomats from various countries came under fire Tuesday during an official visit to the Palestinian city of Jenin in the West Bank. The Israeli army fired warning shots at the delegation, which included Uruguayan Ambassador to Palestine Fernando Arroyo, who was unharmed in the incident.
