    Fifth Dakar Rally in South America: 9.000kms in Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina

    The rally will be run this coming January 2-14 in Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina over nearly 9.000kms of roads, tracks and dunes, with a stay at high-altitude

    The official presentation and the route details for the 2017 edition of the Dakar Rally were unveiled this week at a ceremony in Paris. With the addition of Paraguay, the Dakar will visit the 29th country in its history and the 5th on the South American continent, but as Paraguay makes its entry into the race program Chile makes its exit.

    Buenos Aires cruise season has taken off but it will be far from its peak in 2012/13 when over half a million visitors reached the Argentine capital. This season will only see 81 calls with 323.000 visitors of which 70% foreigners, according to local port authorities.

    Uruguay's football suspended following the shooting and death of a team supporter

    “Following the regrettable death of young Hernán Fioritto, AUF has decided to suspend all its activities programmed for the weekend”, said the Uruguayan organization in a twitter message.

    The Uruguayan Football Association, AUF, decided on Friday to suspend all soccer activities of the weekend including the main league matches, following the death of a supporter from Pe;arol, one of the leading teams of the country who has been shot and seriously wounded in late September by fans from the other big club of the country, Nacional.

    Russia chooses wolf Zabivaka as the 2018 World Cup Mascot

    The mascot designed by student Ekaterina Bocharova was announced live on Russia’s Channel 1 with guest star and Ronaldo and chairman Vitaly Mutko.

    A strong social media push propelled a wolf named Zabivaka to victory in the mascot race for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Zabivaka, or ‘the one who scores’ in Russian, received more than 530,000 votes, nearly doubling the second-place finisher the tiger. A cat received the fewest votes in the three-mascot race.
