Chilean Household Debt Increases with a Larger Portion of Non-Bank Personal Loans
A recent study from the Central Bank of Chile written by economists José Miguel Matus, Nancy Silva, Alejandra Marinovic y Karla Flores found that Chilean household debt increased from 23% of GDP in 2000 to 39.1% in 2009.

Dengue Cases in Paraguay Soar to 5.646 Concentrated on Brazilian Border
Paraguayan health authorities said that the number of dengue confirmed cases have reached 5.646, including a death toll of twelve, the latest of which a 60-year-old man and a 5-year-old boy. Most of the deaths reported are in areas near the border with Brazil.

Indian Sub-Submersible Gas Rig Sinks off the Coast of Venezuela
Aban Offshore (BOM:523204), India’s largest offshore drilling and oil field services provider, suffered a major setback on Thursday, when its gas platform Pearl sunk off the coast of Venezuela. This was one of Aban’s biggest money spinning rig earning 358,000 US dollars a day.
