    Paging Mr Think

Meanwhile Spanish ferry line Transcoma has launched a promotion offering a maritime alternative to La Linea’s controversial congestion charge. The border toll is nowhere near becoming a reality yet, but the company running a service between the Rock and Algeciras is wasting no time.

And therefore, as reported by me in earlier threads, Twinky LIED!!!

There IS a direct ferry between Algeciras and Gibraltar. Although a passenger only ferry, it is a perfect route for tourists. Gibralter advised that the fare was 4 euros. It is clear, from Transcoma's offer, that 4 euros is the one-way fare.
Algeciras obviously believes in the law. Unlike Snr Sanchez of La Linea!!

“... the company running a service between the Rock and Algeciras is wasting no time....”

    Bad move Think!

Having said that I've not seen any response from the British press?

    1) Sr. Alejandro is getting money from the Spanish Govt. He wins.....
    2) Sr. Alejandro uses/used Gibraltar for his political gain. He wins...
    3) Sr Alejandro got focus on the Gibraltar Issue. He wins....
I can't see a “bad move” from him........

Ps: Still no car ferry from Algeciras to Gibraltar..... No way to get your car in or out Gibraltar without paying if Sr. Alejandro goes ahead with his “plans”

I believe, Think, that you said there was no 'ferry .... who mentioned 'car' ?

As a result, the bad move I was refering to was yours, not our errant Mayor whose political future remains uncertain! To be fair his argument is really with Madrid, not the Rock ..... he may well have found it easier to fight the Rock!

    4) La Linea “dies” as the only reason for a tourist to go there is to get to Gibraltar.
    5) Snr Sanchez gets removed in favour of an intelligent mayor.

Weaseling out, Twinky? Nobody mentioned a car ferry except you.

Who needs a car to get around in Gibraltar?

The whole question is/was about a “congestion charge” for cars....
Pedestrians were not to be charged....
    Only cars....
That's why i checked the ferry site: http://www.aferry.com/ to see if it was possible to avoid the toll somehow.
    It is not...
There is not a ferry from Algeciras to Gibraltar.....
    There is a boat....

hope this helps, think Cnut the Great

A ferry (or ferryboat) is a form of transportation, usually a boat, but sometimes a ship, used to carry (or ferry) primarily passengers, and sometimes vehicles and cargo as well, across a body of water. Most ferries operate on regular, frequent, return services. A passenger ferry with many stops, such as in Venice, is sometimes called a water bus or water taxi.

I've been glad to drop an email to Ashley Fox MEP suggesting that he might like to publicise the Algeciras-Gibraltar ferry so that no-one pays Snr Sanchez anything. In fact, so that people avoid La Linea altogether. Wonder how “Alejandro” is going to pay for those roadworks?

Having just had a quick scan of the republican movement in Australia I get the impression that no Australian really expects any move towards a Presidential system. Certainly not while the current Queen of Australia's reign lasts and there doesn't seem to be very much interest in pushing for a change from the population. The current leader of the opposition has stated that he does not believe that he will live to see any change ... he didn't mention anything about suicide!

As for 'biting the dust' - that seems most pertinent when applied to Argentina's spurious claims to islands it has never owned!

No likely change in Australia for around 30 years.

    God Save Our Queen!

By the way, when did Argentines/South Americans become “civilised”?

#12 since democracy and freedom of expression gived us the full right to tell you and your queen to kiss our back end, something a british subject can be jailed for. :P or did you forget we have no queen ?

“unlike britain, Australia and fakland islad holdings ... ”

Typical Gassy - only half the story or less ...

What you meant to say was - unlike Britain (the UK), Australia, the Netherlands, Aruba, Netherlands Antilles, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, St, Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Soloman Islands, Tuvalu, Denmark, faroe Islands and Greenland.

And that's only the current Queens, there are a few kings remaining too. Of course the Falkland Islands are a British Overseas Territory (together with 13 others) which you can add to the list if you like. I'm not sure what other Overseas Territories belong to the other kingdoms.

From the Great God Wiki - “ ... Currently, 44 nations in the world have monarchs as heads of state, 16 of which are Commonwealth realms that recognize Queen Elizabeth II as their head of state...”

And you've only got the Kerchners .... but hey, give them time :-)
