Billy I would expect no less of you to make your suggestion at this moment. You might be showing more solidarity with your neighbours! But alas, I suspect that's impossible, given the way Argentina resorted to shut off the gas tap to Magallanes. Good brotherly neighbourliness...
Liberato for your reading I repeat my post from elsewhere...
“More dramatic even has been the case of some hundreds of stranded Argentinean citizens, mainly tourists, but also including lorry drivers who have not been able to get home either by air or by road due to the road blocks.”
Ah ah: Chileans blockading Argentine Tierra del Fuego. Now there's a turn up for the books. And they are squealing quickly. When will Ushuaia suffer from a fresh food shortage?
1@ First of all, Mr. Allende was the worst Chilean President ever, who leaded us in less than three years to an almost civil war, breaking the moral, familiar, social, legal and economic system with their class fight predicament.
Relating to the general strike, it has been supported in a transversal way fro all of the politics parties spectrum and the non politic community (the most of us). Is truth, ENAP (the oil & gas state owned company) is under bankruptcy because the last 20 years gvts. (followers of Mr. Allende) management which meant bad of oil & gas purchases from future markets, corruption (up to USD 1 million in retirement bonus), Transantiago transportation system subsidy for USD 500 millions, staff ‘s too high salaries and too low production and efficiency and others.
The faiure of present gvt. was to raise the prices of gas on Magallanes, where we had a very important subsidy up to 25.000 m3 monthly, reducing it to a 1.000 m3 plus increasing the bill in 16,8%. Now we are very close to an arrangement that means a ruled system under law for the future prices raises and not depending on the ENAP’s CEO or Directors Board.
We sorry about the inconveniences to the tourist and passing passengers, but it was very important to us that the overwhelming situation press the central authorities to negotiate with us to get a good deal.
Sergio. Be careful. You may get federalism Argentine-style. Have they begun muttering about their long incontrovertible rights to certain Chilean territories yet?
