On September 10th MercoPress reproduced a piece from Meat Trade News Daily (UK farmers claim Uruguay’s ‘Hereford’ meat labelling is ‘misleading’) in which the UK National Farmers Union, NFU called on Asda supermarkets to change its labelling policy after it emerged that its meat marked ‘Hereford Prime Beef Sirloin Steak’ is sourced 6,800 miles away in Uruguay. No problem with that.
No crass remarks about Uruguayan meat being tastier than the original and acceptance that proper labeling albeit a separate issue is important.

I dont see the problem....change the name to a spanish way
For example, according to this man of the link, what it is known as “pop corn” (pochoclo for us) it was sold by aztecas on their streets with the name of “nahuatl o momochtli”....nothing new, already invented by aztecas, just a copy with other name..... maíz, papa, batata, ananá, palta, ají, tomate, poroto, cacao, tabaco, mandioca, todos productos originarios de américa. Banana y maní too I think.

Just a shame all the Aztecs were exterminated by those nasty evil Spanish imperialists and their descendants.

“ “URUGUAYAN NATURAL” is the Uraguayan government's lead to its natural program. ”, when talking about its Herford beef & livestock marketing.

    This is pretty sophisticated stuff.

By imputation and implication, it is saying that Hereford beef produced outside Uruguay is *un-natural*,
particularly that produced in Hereford itself.

The general question of whether Hereford, UK, holds and propriotorial ownership of 'the Brand' simply comes about because the breed takes the name of a place or a tight geographical area.
Where there is a non-place association such as Mendel Peas, or Merino Wool - or African Elephant!, the question of Appelation Controlé is less contentious.

A good response, provided the welfare standards are comparable and its labelled properly I'd have no concerns about eating it.

I don't however want to eat beef feed on GM and injected with growth hormones.

I prefer all the time to be late, to make mistakes, to habe unstability, or whatever; but to have freedom of being ourselves and choosing our own destiny. Not to be the choice or desire of others. Its more difficult and less comfortable, yes, but SAmerica did it this way.
México is full of mestizos by the way.
About the food pop corn in azteca language was called only momochtli.
Others vegetables, rich vegetables of the region, zapallo and papaya (an most exquisite fruit).

Some comments on the 'poor old Aztecs', #2, 3, 5

Remember these were a group of three 'tribes' that came into Mexico from the north (p.d. USA) and out-competed and (eventually) erradicated the local peoples.
For 100 years they held sway, but they, in turn, were disposessed by the next invaders.

    @5 Be serious,
Yes, poor Aztecs for having their civilization destroyed.
But they destroyed many other civilizations with their conquests & constant drain on subject peoples for human sacrifice.
The Spanish found no trouble getting allies against them, so hated were the Aztecs.
We must keep things in their proper perspective.
Still, they gave us chocolate, so they can't be all bad!

10 You wouldn't know class if it came up to you and smashed you in the face.
Terence is a reasonable, even handed gentlemen who has great respect for the British Farming Industry. He wouldn't like a slimy article like you.

12 Hello Islode, I hear what you say but feel the World lost some of the most fantastic civilisations when the Spanish raped, murdered and pillaged their way through South America.

One thing is the fight in between brothers peoples...another different the domination of peoples that had nothing to do with the territory, the continent, and that is imperialism

    Malen,
the three 'Aztec' tribes infiltrated from the north of 'Mexico' *slowly*, though inexorably. They were not 'brother peoples'.

Often it's the rate of change - rather than the distance travelled - that is the problem.
. . . . . ask the inhabitants of, once white, Bradford, England.
The present population - typical of many English communities - became taken-over in a very short period of time by an absolutely alien southern asian 'indian' culture.

The politicians prefered a policy of these 'sacrifice areas', which they called 'Multiculturalism', to a process of widespread assimilation.

It of course set up its own problems -
thankfully not as draconian as Aztec human sacrifice
(though there is a strong, largely ethnic, voice for the introduction of Sharia Law, to be applied - initially - in these Muslim areas).

Realistically, I don't expect to see Bradford & Bingley Football Stadium to be used for Sharia exhibition-stoning in the near future; we have checks and balances to control such 'Un-English' behaviour.

Inmigration is one thing, and in Arg we know about it and it is legal by governments
Other things are imperialist invasions, that are not legal
Dont know what happens in Bradford, if people there is white and now mixing with indians, dont see the problem. Dont know Sharia either.
Arg is full of coreanos, chinos, they always have supermarkets and clothes shops, restaurants, etc... they dont mix much, they are closed comunnities like you the english; although others countries inmigrants here have no problem with the mix, they like it
