The Royal Air Force next generation military transport aircraft has been officially named as Atlas. The aircraft, which has until now been known as the A400M, will replace the RAF’s existing C130 Hercules fleet and along with the Voyager and C-17 will provide the UK military’s future air transport force. The Atlas looks very impressive-I belive its turbo prop engines are very powerful for an aircraft in its class and it is certainly better than the new Hercules which has proved wanting compared to the original Herc it was meant to replace. Atlas larger rear, neater design, and hope it has moveable rather than fixed floor shackles. I could see other roles preformed by different variants if produced, and believe it has already been trialled as a tanker.Who knows, maybe the platform for an MR aircraft too?

Cos by the time we settle, and they arrive, it will almost certainly be, over priced , out of date ,
And probably has a flat tyre.
