On what he described as the “first and last time” he will address the United Nations General Assembly, the President of Paraguay, Federico Franco, affirmed that his country will not abide by any infringement on its sovereignty. Read full article
Nicely put Fred, wonder how long it will be before they ask for the return of the territories taken from them as a result of the war of the triple alliance.
Illegitimate organisation - mercosur. On the cusp - unasur.
Illegitimate governments - Venezuela, Ecuador, argieland, Bolivia. On the cusp - Brazil, Peru, Uruguay.
Rather unedifying to talk about the 19th century and territorial nationalism at the UN, no =) But seriously Paraguay or rather its oligarchy will not forever stand in the way of friendship and unity on the continent...
Paraguay will never ask for its lost territories because they accept that they were defeated and lost them; this is contrary to Argentina with its claim to the Falklands. We know that we were beaten by 3 countries, such is life, we moved on, why can't Argentina?
So we impeached our leader, why do other countries have to care? Hugo, Evo dissolved their Supreme Courts and Congress; an obvious move to becoming a dictator.

Monsanto and Cargill are in Paraguay because we want them to be. They provide a service/product that we desire. If we want to have them leave we will simply stop buying/using their products/services. You have clearly never set foot outside of a city to be able to understand where your food comes from and how it is produced. If you would like to know, ask your local farmer to show you around one day.

I feel sorry for you having to live so close to those disgusting Argentines, still you will have a ringside seat for the collapse of the Kirchner dictatorship. You need to get that US Air Force based built and look to the Pacific facing nations to do business with. Best wishes from the UK
There is no foreign intervention in Paraguay's internal matters. This is all smoke by a discredited oligarchy. Perhaps they are a little nervous, the purpose for their existance may evaporate if Capriles wins in Venezuela. No more excuses to preventing the expansion of Mercosur.
#10 - Yeah most likely if Capriles wins Paraguay will accept them into Mercosur. But it is highly unlikely that Hugo will be leaving power anytime soon.
