Ecuador said on Wednesday the United States must “submit its position” regarding Edward Snowden to the Ecuadorian government in writing as it considers the former U.S. spy agency contractor's request for asylum. Ecuador, in a statement from its embassy in Washington, said it would review the request “responsibly”. Read full article

Your Comment The United States must “submit its position,
    In writing,

Seems to me, this little jacked up // blow up doll
Alias action man, is getting to big for his boots,

What is this world coming to when a little know body, tell the mighty united states, to put it in writing.

    What next,
The mighty CFK demanding the supreme court does as she says,or else ..lol..

Ha ha ha ha. Did Ecuador ask the British government to submit its “position” on Assange in writing? Did Ecuador submit its “position” in writing? How come? Because Ecuador extended “diplomatic asylum”. A status unrecognised in the UK. Assange is a criminal fugitive. But Ecuador “protects” the scumbag. The United States, I am assured, also doesn't recognise “diplomatic asylum”. Ecuador is simply “fronting” for political reasons. In time, it will suffer.

So Ecuador started to get cold feet over assange...this time they are getting cold feet before they do anything! Seems like almost a plea to the US 'please help us to avoid doing something stupid' unfortunately unless they DO decide to offer him asylum then its none of their business, they know the charges laid against him, so if they offer him asylum then good luck

This is just so they can make the mighty U.S. do some tricks to show everybody how capable Uruguay is.

Then to really show how powerful Uruguay is, they'll respond, “thank you for all that writing, but......”.

All that diarrhea coming out of their mouths about constitutions and human rights. What a joke!

Like someone here said about this guy Snowden, “China?, Russia?, Cuba?, Venezuela?, Uruguay?.” Not exactly “soft touch” governments at all!

Well all this is certainly putting Ecuador on the map. It will be interesting to see how it pans out for them. I haven't heard any dissenting voices from their South American neighbours, so I'm guessing Correa is operating with his neighbours support, certainly Venezuelas and no doubt Argentina.

Seems that Obama is learning the hard way that supporting Latino ambitions in one arena, doesn't necessarily mean it will be reciprocated when matters effect him. Clearly not.

Correa is batting above league, he has neither the political wherewithal or power to play these sort of games on the world stage.

Maybe he never heard of the cold war in that little back water country of his,
because he is taking on one of the masters of the game.

#2 The USA is not a signatory the OAS concept of diplamatic asylum. Is was created in the early 50s when SA countries were having coup's of the week.
50% of ecaudor's export is to the USA and it comes up for vote Monday. I would surmise that vote will be postponed or delayed for some reason.

How Correa is enjoying all this , once again the centre of attention ! But , as Captain Poppy says , he should be careful . Fifty percent , or more , of exports go to the USA.

Correa is an unimportant despot who seeks adoration by given away the oil wealth of his country instead of investing in the infrastructure thus forcing his fellow citizens to emigrate, legally and illegally, to the US, to Spain, to Italy and to the UK.

He just loves to “cock a snook” at the US and he also believes that by giving Julian Assange asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London he is, somehow, showing his solidarity with Argentina in their mythical quest for sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.

    What a nincompoop!

Correa is demonstrating how he feels about his own importance. His bananas won't be sold in the US and Europe won't take the excess. Result? Banana republic hits the dust!

    “Must” / “demand” etc, etc.

Oh the ache in my side from PSML.

Of course, his dad the drug runner 'killed' by the US never did anything wrong because drugs are not illegal and his education in the USA was only to spy out the ground for when the expoloding bananas are perfected.

This guy is a complete looney-toon.

Guess what correa, you control that choice of having 10 billion in US trade in more ways then you think. Though you gave up the pact knowing it would not be renewed, what do you think will happen to your imports in general? 40,000 ecuador jobs tied to USA trade. Make the most of your last swing.

You take in people for actions that are illegal in your country.

So apparently Equador is getting cold feet over giving Snowden asylum. Not because its the right thing to do but because they think the perception is that Assange is pulling the strings. One stone in the shoe is so irritating they don't want to risk another

I find it even more hilarious that a teen that worked for wikileaks turned shitloads of information and data over to the FBI, a whistleblower! wikileaks is furious that the USA government is doing anything with the ill gotten data........is it just me or is there some hypocracy there? Assange is such an idiot that he also is pissed at the US for revoking snowden's passport......does he actually think we are suppose to give a fugitive a safe passage?
