Since Wednesday midnight Radio Nacional from Radio Grande is broadcasting news in English targeted to the Falkland Islands. The news bulletin has been prepared by Radio Nacional Buenos Aires through Radio Argentina al Exterior and will be broadcasted at the break of every day, reports Tierra del Fuego media.

The brief bulletin, so far only with Argentine news, is broadcasted from Rio Grande since they have the necessary emission power to reach the Falkland Islands, according to local reports.

“It was really exiting, thrilling to broadcast the first news bulletin for the English speaking residents of Malvinas; this is very important because of the links we expect to establish”, said Leda Soto the broadcaster from the night shift who inaugurated the “calling the Malvinas” service.

Ms Soto that for some time now “we had been thinking of implementing the project and finally last night it became true. The news report is made up in Buenos Aires; then they send it to us in Rio Grande, we edit it and put it on the air to the audience in Malvinas”.

I'm sure that this signal will never be tuned into, unless the Falklanders want to listen to fairy tales.

I'll bet it's even easier to block the signal all together.

But isn't it nice that the Argentine government is still wasting all of it's money on senseless and useless things, instead of on the infrastructure or people of Argentina.

This 'initiative' won't be around for long, because as soon as the money is gone, so will all of these wasteful 'projects'.
