LATAM leaders showing the world that they are clowns, and not ready to play in the grown up leagues.

This 'incident' is totally the fault of Bolivia, and LATAM are just embarrassing themselves before the whole world by giving it more attention.

I was thinking that 2013 was going to be a boring year for Latam comedy politics, but just like our British summer, it has arrived late.
Speaking of arriving late, I wonder why KFC's plane got her to the hugging ceremony late, she would have missed a Botox treatment for an oppurtunity like this.
I've not heard her come up with a creative Falklands connection to this debacle yet, I'm sure it's coming, she had better hurry though.

It is curious that EU leaders have expressed great concern at the revelations that the US was spying on them, yet they were prepared to illegally detain the Bolivian President, (which is what it was), on the suspicion that the whistleblower who revealed the information was on the plane.

Do you seriously believe that other EU countries are not doing the same thing and thinking, there but for the grace of god we. I think we have learned from Latam politics that what governments say publicly for public consumption isn't always what they think behind closed doors.

... what they say .. and what they think ..

Brit, it's what they DID that is at issue here.

Think for a moment if this 'downing, detaining and searching' had been done to the British Prime Minister; or, in reverse, to the US President .. say, by the Cubans, or the Russians, or the South Africans, or the Chinese.

What would your argument be then?

This really was a shocking affront to the dignity of Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina. If these Countries have any self respect they must immediately sever diplomatic relations with USA, Spain, France, Portugal, Austria and Italy. They will lose out on trade and will never be allowed to overfly these Countries again but this is s small price to pay for honour. Apologies are simply not enough.

    @6 GeoffWard2

There is NO evidence that what Bolivia states happened actually happened.

    These are the FACTS.

Portugal told the Bolivian authorities that the Bolivian aircraft land couldn't land for refuelling due to technical difficulties a FULL 24 hours BEFORE the aircraft took off.

Because flight plans have to be made, and permission requested to fly through SOVEREIGN airspace, the fact that the aircraft could no longer land in Portugal ALTERED the FLIGHT PLAN.

Now the flight plan states how high, what direction and speed the aircraft will be doing. They are NOT allowed, for safety and security reasons, to change height, direction or speed UNLESS an emergency is declared. Then they will be guided in.

Now since the Bolivan authorities DID NOTHING to alter the flight plan since the Portugal incident, France and Spain denied them access to their airspace (which is THEIR right as SOVEREIGN nations to do - whomever is in that aircraft).

Then the Bolivian aircraft developed a fault with the fuel gauge and declared an emergency, and where given permission to land in Austria. The recordings between the pilot and control tower prove this.

The plane was GROUNDED over safety concerns, and had MAINTENENCE.

However the original problem was ALL the fault of Bolivia, who didn't file a new flight plan as they are supposed to do under international law.

So to cover their mistake, they are now using a spurious report by a hack journalist regarding Snowden, and claiming that they were refused because of him, when the truth is it is their own incompetence that has caused this.

The rest of LATAM are making fools of themselves, but we can always use a giggle every now and then.

Their aircraft has a 4000 mile range.

4000 miles is a bloody long way by European standards.

There must have been a snag with the gauges, what sort of a pilot takes a plane into the air with his countries leader on board and with insufficient fuel load for safety?

I take it their airforce uses their best pilots for this type of duty, most do!

@3 Do try to get things in the right perspective. For some unaccountable reason, latam states twirl on the argie thumb. One questions why. Do they enjoy the argie thumb in their arse? Are they looking to be stretched so thay can be humped by something more substantial? They are already accredited argie cock-suckers. Perhaps they could request argieland to perform millions of emasculations. Although most of them are pretty much emasculated already. Are they still working on the basis that shit floats?
@4 Perhaps European nations decided that a latino wannabe shouldn't be allowed to shield a criminal.
@6 You seem to forget that Bolivia is barely a “country”. It doesn't comply with international laws, so why should international laws apply to it?It's a place of criminals, similar to argieland, headed by Morales. The world is learning. Chances have been given. Latam tossers have decided on their own “route”. Don't try to use OUR laws to justify your illegality.
@8 Good idea. Cut the tossers off. Tossers? Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina.
@13 They are already screwed. What do you think their “governments” do?
@22 Please. what does faggot Correa have to do with this? Do you have trouble reading, comprehending, relating, copying?

You are moving very slightly in the right direction, but you are still making sweeping offensive assumptions. I for one am very very conversant with the concept and use of evidence, and use it daily in a way that may seen alien to others, in other words in its neutral, legal, moral sense.

Keep trying, and you may actually post a comment that is neutral, honest, un offensive and which cuts to the heart of the matter, and this will make others listen and perhaps trust your judgement and comment.

I have heard of a sweeping offensive statement but a sweeping offensive assumption is a new one on me. Afterall, I could make an assumption about you but keep it to myself leaving you no way of knowing if it was offensive or not.

Now I find it offensive that without evidence Geoff Ward has repeatedly stated, as fact, that all this happened just as it was reported by LATAM and as though there is no evidence to refute it and as though nobody has challenged it. If he continually refuses to accept that this story is 'alleged' rather than 'factual', I'll give it to him with both barrels. I'm sure he has broad enough shoulders to handle my admittedly colourful turn of phrase.

Once he is in South America what is stopping him from moving there? Let's be fair, say what you like about the Argentines, but some of their senoritas are real stunners.

I mean, the one of the Beavers are bound to give him citizenship, would they stop a fellow “ brother” from freely travelling around their free nations?

Now that would be a story!

RC my wife is one and I am rather fond of her. But.....she is of Italian descent.........not indigenous. I am still not 100% convinced that he did not make his way to La Paz.
He would live like a nazi living in SA, planning every move, even just to the grocery store, looking over his shoulder, sleeping like I did when at anchor....with one eye open....never truly being free. Ultimately like Eichman, he will pay his dues.

    Cap

That explains it, given the choice of a wobbly Sophia LOREN, in all the right places of course and trying not to sound racist, and a coca chewing Aztec Indian?
I know which one I would chose.

Mine, she is a mind reading Yorkshire lass, with a tongue like a scalpel and a look that could incinerate you at 500 metres! She who must be obeyed! But like all York Shire people loyal as fuck!

Take your point, just like mine. He obviously never thought this through now he is desperate. Let him wither on the vine, pick him up later, much, much easier, none of this diplomatic shit!

You have no statute of limitation on treason I believe?

There is not statue of limitations on treason. Funny thing is it is one of the hardest to convict on because you have to prove premeditated intent, thus you usually need an accomplice to spill on the other. Few caught traitors are ever convicted of treason here. No one in 60 years has been convicted of treason here.
However, that being said, snowden convicted himself with his interview stating it was his plan long before he became a contractor to do this. He bore witness against himself which our constitution allows him not too.

Latam leaders in Bolivia support President Morales and blast European countries

Actually it was only 3 others,
And one of them, Argentina has gone very quiet, when considering she can offer no more than a squeaky voice to his defence,
    Thus this leaves 2,,,,,,,,,,
Kind of makes a mockery of his so called support,, does it not lol
