“The first priority for Venezuela will be the return to Mercosur as full and active member of Paraguay” said Maduro

Does this mean Paraguay is a new organizations and mercosur wishes to be a part of Paraguay? They will be better off being governed by Paraguay........maybe the bus driver is driving mercosur to a better position in life.

Really, have they been speaking long?

To be honest this article is very badly written.

    _______________

“We assume the pro tempore presidency of Mercosur with the commitment to define the strategy, proposals and needs of the block for the next ten years”, said Maduro.

The pro-tempore presidence has no such powers.

Well, this should be fun. Can we watch Maduro hand the gavel to Cartes as the only means of getting Paraguay to return to being a “full and active member”?

“With the left hand of Chavez and the spirit of Bolivar I declare the summit debate session open”, said Maduro”

Now we know where the hand in The Adams Family came from!

Also, it seems that Pepe, following his meeting with the argie popesicle, is no longer an atheist but a believer: well, he is near the end and he is a weak willed individual.

As long as their are free thinking people left in SA there will always be hope that SA will not become the latam version of the USSR.
Why they wish to be communist is beyond me. Now don't get my wrong.....I have [lenty of issues with the current state of capitalism and believe it needs constant monitoring, but I would much rather chase that carrot dangling in front of me than being pissed on and told it's a free shower.

@7 unfortunately the poor and even the middle class have no faith in capitalism since they haven't done better with free-trade governments, at least here in Argentina both neoliberal governments were a disaster so people don't want to chase the carrot, because they think they can never reach it. The politicians take advantage of this and tell them what they want to hear, and persecute the free thinkers.
Here in Argentina the people don't want communism, but the people think the Radicals and Socialists are incompetent, and the Peronists control everything. Macri won't get elected, he played his cards wrong, so it's up to Scioli and Massa. Scioli is still with the Kirchnerists, Massa was a Kirchnerist until yesterday, so both were OK with pseudo-Communism. Massa claims he will change things, but who can trust a politician?
There are people with too much power, who know how to control people to achieve their goals, and there's not much people can do to stop them.

The thing with capitalism Mag is that you need a competent government to keep it in check with reasonable regulation. When they over control....it goes to shit.....when it's under controlled....it goes wild. Let's hope something good happens in October's elections. I've been waiting since since the 2000 started.

9 Nice one ! As Mrs. Thatcher once said capitalism has two faces . A positive one where companies treat employees well paying a fair salary , obeying all labour laws , paying in full National Security etc . Those companies have to be supported and praised by Governments . The other companies , who do not obey in full all labour laws and behave improperly , must be intervened by the Government . And this from a Tory !
