Pope Francis said the troubled Vatican bank must become honest and transparent and that he will listen to the advice of a commission he has set up on whether it can be reformed or needs to be shut down altogether. Read full article
I give him one thing: he is VERY good at sitting on the fence.
Just like the other Popes apart from the ones that actively hid despicable acts carried out on children from their parishioners for years, that includes the last one (just waiting for the SS to hit the fan on that one).
In the market place of my home town of Bingham ( Notts ), there stands the Buttercross.
In the 13th Century a priest at St Marys Church, just down the road, after finishing a mass whereby he said that it was OK for Men to have sex with other men.
The locals, upon hearing his words of wisdom took him from the church, walked / carried him down the road to where the Buttercross now stands today, tied him to a pole and burned him to death.
Now, while I 'm for gay rights and live and let live, I do feel that good people of Bingham did have a point about the power of the church and that, even back then, it was not a force for good in this land.
