Venezuela must immediately reverse its decision to withdraw from the American Convention on Human Rights and make a commitment to truly protect all individuals, Amnesty International said on Monday. The Venezuelan government’s decision will take effect on Tuesday 10 September. The withdrawal will leave Venezuelan citizens without the protection of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Stevie, can you check out this site in detail. I've a feeling that your #2 doesn't stack up. Innocent or guilty of the many classes of human rights violations, I believe that most South Americans are victims of many of these abuses.
Wow Stevie how quickly you ignore people's rights as long as the government trampling those rights are of the 'right' hue.
Sep 10th, 2013 - 06:54 am - Link - Report abuse 0Poor Venezuelans. Another disgusting act by a corrupt oligarchy that continues to run one of the world's most resource rich nations into the ground all in the name of a failed economic model wrapped in some social aspirations that just as quickly destroy what they deliver.
Venezuela could be one the richest, most prosperous and affluent nations on Earth.
Instead it is becoming one of the poorest, most dysfunctional and dangerous nations on Earth.
We are all Chavez... PMSL
I don't, as I disagree with kicking the HRO's out.

Who needs those organizations? Those who violate human rights, for example, Australia: http://www.nswccl.org.au/issues/hr_violations.php

Toonan: the Federal government enacted laws to strike down persecution of gays and that was the end of that.
I didn't bother to go any further knowing Australia from personal experience, something you will never know as they keep lunatics out.
I bet you feel really happy in that bath of ignorance that you wallow in.

So you disagree with the actions by the Venezuelan government?
I was simply projecting your arguments to our continent.
Not ever put words in my mouth. That would push your further into the realm of sheer stupidity.
By the way, not your continent; though your longing for it is palpable, you have chosen not to live in any of the 12 countries there.

Cold? Humid?
No, I don't have a friggin clue as to where you live. And I don't care either.
Difference between you and me is that you do care. The rest is totally equivalent.
I tell you what I told Chris, assume what you want, but don't share with me your conclusions, I simply don't care.
As to the topic, yes, I disagree, but not for that particular HRO being what they are, but for the way it is handled.
Nice try Stevie but FAIL!

Your own words condemn you, not mine.
Go back and read your own posts sometime. You know, the posts you used to write before you descended into this cranky bitter person that runs around these fora saying very little. You're so busy point scoring that you having posted a new idea or real comment for weeks.
So thank you for that.

Sep 10th, 2013 - 09:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It seems to me the members of the opposition parties in Venezuela should be pretty nervous about this.

Petronas has just pulled out of a multi-billion$ oil contract with Venezuela.
Sep 11th, 2013 - 05:11 am - Link - Report abuse 0Perhaps the human right of a right to life will be compromised by starvations of the new VE poor.
Or maybe the contract will simply be taken over by the Chinese ... with Chinese -style human rights becoming the norm. That should make Stevie happy! (Only jokin, Stevie, but it was a really crass bit of teasing.)
