Representatives from British Overseas Territories including Falkland Islands lawmaker Ian Hansen as well as a cross-party delegation of British MPs were welcomed on Sunday by Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo.

On Tuesday, 10 September, Gibraltar celebrates its National Day, which recalls the first sovereignty referendum back in 1967. The event this year coincides with the three centuries since the Utrecht treaty that handed Gibraltar to England and in the midst of a major diplomatic conflict with Spain that claims sovereignty over the Rock.

The group of MPs among which Britain’s Liberal Democrat deputy leader Simon Hughes together with peers and MEPs are scheduled to hold a series of meetings, the Gibraltar Government said in a release.

Other MPs attending are Jim Dobbin, Jack Lopresti, Angus MacNeil, David Morris, Bob Neill, Andrew Rosindell, Alec Shelbrooke, Col Bob Stewart and Dame Angela Watkinson.

Representatives of eight British Overseas Territories, including the Falkland Islands, will also be in Gibraltar for the event.

On the list are Hubert Hughes, Chief Minister of Anguilla; Craig Cannonier, Premier of Bermuda; Dr Orlando Smith, Premier of the British Virgin Islands; Alden McLaughlin, Premier of the Cayman Islands; Member of the Falklands Legislative Assembly Ian Hansen; Reuben Meade, Premier of Montserrat; Dr Rufus W Ewing, Premier of the Turks & Caicos; and Simon Young, Deputy Mayor of Pitcairn.

Before any argies get on here with their nonsense, I am reminded that the place that is now called argieland rebelled against Spain in protest against Spain's imperialist, colonialist ways. Spain has “progressed”. It is now imperialist, colonialist and fascist. It has recently demonstrated that it can get pretty low by aligning itself with argieland. No doubt its next move will be to align itself with Iran, Syria and North Korea. Isn't there a saying about knowing someone by the company they keep?
