Brazilian presidential candidate Eduardo Campos, a contender to unseat President Dilma Rousseff in October elections, died Wednesday when his campaign jet crashed in the city of Santos, killing all seven people aboard. Read full article
Eduardo Campos, the PSB or Partido Socialista Brasileiro party, came from a political family and had quite a lot in common with President Dilma Rousseff.
Mr. Campos just turned 49 on 10.08.2014. Interestingly, I know many that were in favour of his candidacy, but those I know from Pernambuco were 100 %not. Even Cariocas and Paulistas whose parent came from Pernambuco.
The question now arises if his running mate, Marina Silva should step forward to helm the PSB. I think she should, as it is her moment. She placed a good 20 % of the vote before against President Dilma Rousseff.

I truly feel sorry for you , you need help.
I have never ever cheered when a person dies ( I was going to make an exception in your case ) but I won't lower my standards. But I would cheer when the Argentina government dies ( I emphasise THE GOVERNMENT as an entity )
They're rationing water in San Paulo, one day on one day off. The Dam is at an 84 year low. They are pumping the muck on the bottom thta filled iwth all kinds of goodies, viruses, heavy metal, pesticides all good things you'd want in your daily intake.
They don't expect rain until Dec.
They think they have at the most 4 mos of water left until its all gone.
I agree. This plane is in fact the well known Citation which has intercontinental range and a full electronic glass flightdeck.
The pilots would have to be rated on the plane AND the glass instruments so the comment 'As it was preparing to land, the plane fell due to bad weather.' does seem unusual to say the least.
For a 2010 exact model you are looking at U$D 9 M, so hardly a stringbag.
The Winter weather in the Santos region was bad: Rainy, and very windy.
It was reported that the Citation jet aborted the first landing approach. and the crash occurred subsequent to that. We have had a number of these in the last decade, most involving private jets landing at coastal resorts in bad weather.
Any presidential candidate death, anywhere in the world, raises the conspiracy comments within days, if not internet hours. Shopping yesterday I heard anything and everything possible mentioned, some from people that should know better, and act more responsible. Not worth a moment's gossip.
Escoses Doido e ChrisR, I'll also wait for the investigation results.
Eduardo Campos as the PSB candidate was at a distant 3rd place, with only 10 % of the voters to President Dilma's 40 %.
We received calls from friends in Europe about the accident, one telling me that Campos was no socialist. I asked why, and was told He is no socialist in the European sense of socialism due to his pro-business stance. He's a business guy from a pro-business family. That's not my opinion, that's a fact !
Really.
It is always refreshing being told by educated outsiders what we should do or not, how we should model our country like Europe, Cuba, or Russia, or avoid the mistakes those countries have experienced, and what our politicians family life has been, or is. Now children.... Don't you just love it ?
For the record the grandfather of Eduardo Campos, Miguel Arraes was exiled for 15 years, after opposition here to the military years here in the 60's. Pernambuco has traditionally been left-wing, and votes left-wing. He had a great deal more in common with President Dilma than most outsiders know.
And yet the new stadium that was built for the World cup, came in ahead of time on budget in partnership with buisiness :-) he might well have been a socialist but he cared about his State and that showed when he polled over 80% of the vote back in 2010 (Governor of his state). Take a long hard look at his record as a State Governor, for a Socialist this guy knew how to get things done. Crime rates down, Investement up, Education up, Health care up. RIP Eduardo Campos :-( My thoughts go out too his wife and children.
