The UK showed its commitment to the UK/Chile defense relationship by sending a Royal Naval ship and the First Sea Lord to Exponaval 2014. The Type 45 Destroyer, HMS Dragon, made its first visit to Chile since commissioning and this was an opportune time for both navies to discuss their future modernization plans and acknowledge the important historic and enduring links between the two Services. In an aside, the First Sea Lord confided in the ranking Chilean Navy Officer present “we need to firm up our plans to deal with the cretins to your east should they do their usual trick and try a sneak attack across the Andes.”

“HM Government would be very happy to put whatever hardware was needed to seriously damage the infrastructure into play, shall we say level half of BsAs as a starter? We do after all owe them that much for their cowardly treatment of the Falklands and their refusal to STFU since 1982”.

“This would bring back their so called ‘army’ before they did any damage to your country, allowing you to secure a real hold for when our Ghurkhas come across and kill the lot of them while they have nowhere to run. They were so disappointed not to take a few hundred heads in 1982 due to the argie cowards running away and hiding behind the white flags””

In answer to the question “What do you think?” the Chilean Officer answered “sounds like a plan to us! How do you want to split the country between us?”

    To be continued. :o)

@4. I'm not sure I understand your point. Argieland has no maritime patrol aircraft. If you needed one, or more, you'd need to ask Brazil. Who have 17 Bandeirantes for the purpose. What's the difference? Would Brazil help? Or would it put its own needs first. Our NATO allies assist. As a thought, argieland has NO aircraft carriers, NO helicopter carriers, NO amphibious assault ships and NO amphibious transport docks. Britain has 2 aircraft carriers in build, a helicopter carrier, an amphibious assault ship and FIVE amphibious transport docks. And all the Royal Navy's vessels float when they are supposed to and submerge when they are supposed to. Argieland's vessels submerge when they are supposed to float and, if they submerge, that's where they stay!
@7. You forgot to mention the Tomahawk cruise missiles launched over the Andes from outside Chilean territorial waters. Has argieland got anything that could fire back? And be sure of not hitting anything Chilean? Where would RAF Typhoons launch their Storm Shadow cruise missiles from? The missiles have a range of more than 300 nautical miles.

As a thought, if we can't 'patrol', we'll just have to destroy anything we don't like the look of. No more 'friendly' radio messages to the ARA Drummond, if it can still leave port without keeping one foot on the seabed, just destroy it. British frigates and destroyers need target practice. And the Royal Navy crews will love it! I can just see the warship's helicopter(s) taking off to circle around and launch Sea Skua missiles while the ship opens fire or launches Harpoon missiles.

Like it or not, Chile's UK military defence relationship is esential to Chile's
    national defence.
