Alejandro Betts, born in the Falklands and now full Argentine citizen will run for office in the Mercosur Parliament, Parlasur, in representation of the Tierra del Fuego province, although he must first overcome the 9 August PASO primaries (open, simultaneous and mandatory), according to reports from the official Argentine news agency, Telam. Disclaimer & comment rulesI know that most, if not all, Falkland Islanders could think of nothing worse than being able to vote in any Argentinean elections.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 07:00 am - Link - Report abuse 0I wasn't even born there and know the Islands better than this guy. Speak about the Malvinas all you any Alex, at your age I'm sure there's an element of senility creeping in. But the Malvinas has nothing to do with the Falkland Islands.
Gee I hope he's paid in pesos. That would be the funniest thing ever.
...rather more carnal. Lol.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 08:14 am - Link - Report abuse 0So this cheating home-wrecker and back-stabbing turncoat is an Argentine candidate for ParlaSur?
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 08:35 am - Link - Report abuse 0Finally Argentina has someone truly representative of them.
Quislings just love to play politics!
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 09:01 am - Link - Report abuse 0And this passes for news?
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 09:39 am - Link - Report abuse 0You are right, Isolde; this passes for propaganda- and very poor at that. Which is good, because it shoots itself in the foot.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 10:58 am - Link - Report abuse 0He is free to believe and act as he wants. I am glad for him. He is welcome to live here in Argentina if that is the place in the world he likes the most
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 11:11 am - Link - Report abuse 0On the other hand, I am free as well to believe and act as I think it´s right, and I am afraid that Mr. Betts is choosing the wrong side of this story.
can he be a candidate to govern the islets?
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 12:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0he was born there so he has more rights than the current viceroy.
the key question is: do you have democratic elections in the islets or is it the old biatch who chooses the viceroy?
When you have a unique selling point it would be foolish not to cash in. Pensions, health service and general security aren't that great over there; you gotta do what you gotta do I guess. All a bit shameful though.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 12:21 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Why is it that all rotting roadkillian politicians appear absolutely simian in their press photos?
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 01:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Were each of them selected to specifically represent one of the various species of monkeys?
It is as if the visual appearance of each is a poor caricature of a zoological textbook sketch.
I had had a vague awareness of this phenomenon for some time but it was brought into sharp focus with the publishing of the pictures of Fein and the most recent of the Cannibal.
Today's photos fit well into this concept as do those of yesterday.

@8. I wonder how he would plan to govern? The current governor doesn't. That's what the Legislative Assembly and the Chief Executive do. When the Governor does act, but only in accordance with the Constitution, he does so with the authority of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth who, nominally, selected him. Although the selection is actually carried out by a Royal Commission.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 03:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 0So, no, Betts couldn't get into office. We don't like argies, we don't like republicans, we don't like traitors and turncoats. In fact, I reckon Betts needs to be quite careful. He has a number of offences on his rap sheet. Treason for a start. If you were to read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traitor#United_Kingdom ,you will get an idea of who can commit treason. Betts qualifies. Not least because he keeps doing it. Every time he appears at the C-24 Comedy Show.
Then there's abandonment (of his family) and bigamy.
He reckons that he fled the Islands in fear of the British forces, even though no-one has ever suffered. Not sure that anyone has ever even been investigated. Different matter now. Not a good idea for him to set foot outside argieland.
Another salary and no doubt pension to add to the ones currently he gets from the Ministry of mythical places.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 04:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Cost/costing the Argy tax payer a small fortune this boy, Toby and Axel’s tax Pesos at work.
Perhaps he could run for President of FIFA, probably a better choice than Maradonna with more chance of winning and FIFA would pay his salary etc, not the Argy taxpayer.
and now full Argentine citizen
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 06:39 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Am I correct in the following opinion-
depending who you speak to,
he is no longer a Falkland's islander, so cannot rule the Falkland's
without their consent,
but a Falkland's born islander-ex British-can if elected be a president of Argentina, now wouldn't that be ironic for the brainwashed argies on here,
so from the islanders -you got rid of a turncoat,
and from the argies - you gain that whitecoat as a future candidate for presidency.
just an opinion.
Double tap of a 0.22rf lr into the lower rear of his skull would settle the matter for everybody except the Peronista and K morons.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 06:48 pm - Link - Report abuse 0They need 15M rounds to settle all of them.
I would pay good money to watch that.
@8: Kirchner has no say in who the Governor of the Falkland Islands can be, Paulie. And, without being elected, he has no power in the Islands either. Small point, but he, if he had the guts to return, would never be elected either.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 07:09 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I may have misinterpreted your use of the word biatch, which I have to assume is your faux street slang for bitch. You knob.
is it the old biatch who chooses the viceroy?
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 07:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0No the Falkland Islands are still British so the Argentine President doesn't choose their government.
britonto
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 09:21 pm - Link - Report abuse 0but a Falkland's born islander-ex British-can if elected be a president of Argentina, now wouldn't that be ironic for the brainwashed argies on here,
why?
what´s the problem?
he was born in the islets and he still has british citizenship, so what???
you are being very racist against the isleteers here.
17 skip
good one.
lets say that BOTH are a pair of old f*cking biatches
Just imagine Germany doing things like this. Letting people vote in Koeningsberg voting district or Danzig voting district. They could have mustered millions of such voters thorugh the years, if they hade wanted. Or if they had celebrated September 1st each year as Day of the Heroes of the Polish Campaign. But they certainly do not. Argentina has something to learn.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 09:34 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@18: isleter and isleteer - can you explain from which version of English these two words come? Most of us understand that you are slightly illiterate, but for you to a). coin a word designed to be slightly derogatory and b). use the phrase you are being very racist, is rather disingenuous.
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 09:58 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Got it?
boludo 20
Jun 23rd, 2015 - 10:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0you cant understand those words, you illiterate benny?
it is not that difficult...
no?
not a surprise
@20: You pride yourself on what you believe to be good English, but I can assure you that there is no such word as isleter or even isleteer in the Oxford English Dictionary. I also have a BSc, 4 A-Levels and 11 O-Levels, which, from what I read of your posts, makes your small-village education look sadly lacking. I am certainly not illiterate, I understand those words, but they just appear to be illiterate, racist and extremely low-brow, to me and everyone else on here. Which isn't really surprising, because you are all three of those adjectives. (You may have to look that one up).

lets say that BOTH are a pair of old f*cking biatches
Jun 24th, 2015 - 09:54 am - Link - Report abuse 0Agreed both CFK and Fabiana Rios fit this description. But thankfully neither of them appoint any viceroys to the Falkland Islands. No matter how much they have tried in vain to do just that.
2015 is nearly half over and the Falkland Islands are still British and out of the hands of a pair of old f*cking biatches in Argentina.
”We offered Betts to run as an outsider and he accepted, and he was quite moved about it”,
Jun 24th, 2015 - 10:05 am - Link - Report abuse 0He dashed to the crapper as he thought they were asking him to go to the Falklands, and the thought of running, waving a white flag made him queezy.
@23 Isolde: I know, I like speaking to him and really enjoy his answers, such as they are! I call it RGbaiting, a bit like masturbating, but with bigger cocks!

Jun 26th, 2015 - 06:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I taught my lads to head-shoot rabbits with a 0.22rf lr bolt action rifle fitted with a suppressor.
The ONLY thing you could hear as they fired was the striker hitting the rim: fantastically quite and accurate. We used to see how many they could kill before the rest of them took fright.
As we lay on the canvas at some 75 yards or so range we wondered what the remaining rabbits must have thought as yet another one fell over sideways. The best comment I heard was Fred's been on the booze again, he's just fell over
You could always try a single shot drop barrel hammer pistol fitted with a suppressor and see how many Malvanista's you could cull before the rest ran off. I can assure you that is just as deadly and just as quite.
However, NEVER mention the Ghurkhas, it scares them more than a bullet in the back of the head.
