As I posted to the Brasiliero Gang:

Brazil downgraded to JUNK status. How is that good for Brazil?

    Worst recession for 25 years.
Real has dropped by 20% against the dollar.
    Inflation at 30%.
    Rampant corruption.
Infighting in the government on how to implement austerity. (Yes, austerity)
    World recession on commodities.

None of this is good news for Brazil, sadly.

Why are the Brasiliero Gang pinning their hopes on a phrase 'BRIC' coined in 2001 by an economist working for Goldman Sachs? It was a paper predicting EMERGING markets. It was produced to advise about long term investment and suggested that Brazil, Russia, India and China could EMERGE to greater status in 2050. A lot has changed since then.

The only country of the original four still worth long term investment at reasonable risk is India. The rest are in the shit. It may change, of course, and a lot depends on confidence and INVESTMENT from outside the countries.

The Brasiliero Gang fail to understand that in order to EMERGE they need investment. When you have been downgraded to JUNK status it is very hard to attract the investment you need.

This JUNK status means money will be leaving Brazil (as pointed out by Skip) and the money your country will have to borrow becomes more expensive.

The idea that Brazil, or even South America, can operate independent from the rest of the world and without trading is a complete nonsense.

    @1
I stopped reading when you said 30% inflation. I can not talk to anyone who has a complete ignorance of Brazil. Please, if you want to talk about Brazil do a kindness to both of us: STUDY.

One small typo. Instead of a “1” a “3” was typed.

Wow doesn't take much for this new Brasileiro to run away.

But not having an answer is pretty much how Dilma runs the country so doesn't surprise me this is repeated by a Brazilian.

What's the bet the Brazilian economy shrinks by nearly 3% this year (and mine doesn't shrink at all).

@3 Haha Indeed, it doesn't take much for them to cower in fear. The truth is far too painful to face.

The Brasileiro Gang needs to clutch at a typo to avoid the reality. They have no answers.

It has taken long enough for this to come about.

    No surprises here though.

After Dilma's impeachment, Brasileiro will lose his (or her, or their) job. Sweet!

@Elaine Your last statement “The idea that Brazil, or even South America, can operate independent from the rest of the world and without trading is a complete nonsense.” couldn't ring truer using the example of Venezuela. Chavez and his clown brigade thought, with the exception of selling oil, that they could make Venezuela self-sufficient, independent of the outside world by creating textile factories, shoe factories, concrete factories, etc. for both employment of the masses and internal consumption so as to avoid having to rely on investment from the outside world. They were “proud” of avoiding outside investment. We see where they are now....

Brazil has more diversity in its economy than Venezuela, so that's good. But, if they don't clean things up, they'll be a much larger version of their northern neighbor. And that won't be good for anyone.

@7. How will Brazil “clean things up” when it's so busy killing itself. The answer is an outside force. One that has no problem killing Brazilians. Chances are that 50%, or more, of Brazilians are better dead. Portugal had no idea what to do until Britain took charge. Brazil should beg the UK to take control. Then Brazilians can take their proper place. Dead, mouldering and rotting.

The only real problem in Brazil is the f*cking Pt and Lulla. If they both became extinct, internal and external confidence could be restored. With investments flowing in again, Brazil would beat the recession, but while fatty Dilma keeps on listening to Lulla, and is reluctant to do what needs doing, first and foremost being the downsizing of government by at least 50% , the recession will be prolonged and recovery will be delayed. Despite all the shit going on, I still believe Brazil can pull through. At the moment I know it sounds like wishful thinking, but gotta have faith as I have chosen Brazil as my home.

Today, after having lost the investment grade, Lula reared his ugly head and croaked that “it means nothing to Brazil”....he went on to say “it only means that we can't do what they want us to. We have to do what WE want with the economy”.
Is that so ? that what he's been doing for 10 years, and it has been a great success story. He must be daft.
Continuing, the genius said ”....because when they reduce it (the investment grade) it means we need to tighten our belts, it brings unemployment, the need to cut expenses - it never brings more education, more investment...“
Well he got that right ! starting with his own lack of an education...
Carrying on with his superb analysis of the situation, he went on to say that many countries in Europe too, are broke... Now, I'd like to know how this has contributed to the PT -backed government's incomPeTence....
The funny thing though, is that in 2008, when Brazil attained investment grade - from S&P - he claimed proudly, ”Brazil has been declared a serious country, that pays it's bills, that has serious policies in place and that takes its finances seriously, and has come to deserve international trust, something we have been needing for a long time, and so important to our country”.....
Funnier still is the way the asshole contradicts himself. He does this all the time, forgetting, or ignoring his previous statements. Just a shitty, uneducated, corrupt politician who will do anything to try to maintain his popularity.

This is what the dickhead Lula said on Thursday....
O fato de ter diminuído o grau de investimento não significa nada
“The fact that the investment grade has diminished doesn't mean anything”

Yet in 2008, this is what he said when the country received investment grade....
O Brasil foi declarado um país sério, que tem políticas sérias
“Brazil was declared a serious country, that has serious politics”

    Lieing dirty thieving PT idiot.

Hot off the press : the Federal Police have asked the STF (Federal Supreme Court) authorization to question Lula regarding Petrobrás and the courruption scheme. Apparently (a few more) documents are surfacing which implicate him and the PT in all this dirt. Interesting to see how this develops.

This is great about the scumbag Lula
He doesn't talk and it shows he has things to hide, in which case he'll be forever reminded and will look really guilty
He talks and they will expose his lies
Oh what a tricky web is being weaved.

A 6x2 foot box would be better. And then cremate the bastard and flush his ashes. Don't want his rotten remains contaminating the soil.
