    We should have made the argy PoW do the job, say 10 days digging followed by having them march across the 'cleared' ground to prove they were all lifted, (officers 1st. !), easy !

    @1. Why the digging? Surely the first priority was to get the argies off the Islands as soon as possible. Especially as argieland was showing no sign of wanting them back. There could have been an intention to have some sort of uprising.

    However, it might have been an idea to have the columns of argies pass through the minefields on their way to the ships waiting to ferry them to the continent.
