United States State Secretary John Kerry congratulated on Monday newly elected president of Argentina Mauricio Macri saying Washington will cooperate “closely” with the administration that will take office on December 10.

“The United States and Argentina have been partners for a long time, we will work closely with the elected president Mauricio Macri and his government,” Kerry said in a statement released congratulating both Macri and the people of Argentina for the “success” of the runoff which “reflects the solid democratic values” of the country.

“We are sure the United States and Argentina will continue cooperating deeply to promote regional security and prosperity and to encourage human development and human rights both in our continent and the world.”

“We also remain grateful for Argentina’s leadership in the United Nations in issues such as the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and the encouragement of human rights of LGBT people (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals and intersex) and we want to widen our cooperation in multilateral affairs,” the US secretary said vowing to “strengthen our valuable bilateral exchanges in education and cultural issues, and our cooperation in the science area.”

@2 It really depends on how irrevocable Argentina's 'Commodities for Yuan”
    arrangements are.

CFK may have sold them down the river and locked them into a deal whereby Argentina has Yuan credit in exchange for resources developed by imported Chinese labour, they can only buy goods from China.

China has made many of these Commodities Investment deals with exclusive Chinese labour, around the world.

The previous Canadian government went for it, but the political backlash threatened to be huge so they backed off.

    Quite typical.
China has been locking in commodity futures for 20 years
