Chile’s government has temporarily banned the consumption of sardines in the south of the country after hundreds of thousands of dead fish turned up floating along the shores of Queule River. Read full article
@1 The real etymology of Argentina has nothing to do with Latinate forms or anything meaning silver. The word is actually derived by an indigenous language, where it means great hordes of rude and inconsiderate thieving bastards.
(may I call you Marti? I do feel a little presumptuous, but I trust you will forgive me ;-) )
Thank You for correcting my simple error.

From my own, well researched evidence, I think you will find that the most current terminology is
great hordes of 'inconsiderate and rude' thieving bastards. and not as you Say!
@3 Thanks for the added clarification. There are some subtleties about the native languages (which were deliberately extinguished by the argentos) regarding the nuances surrounding their characterisation of the thieving bastards.
With respect to the famous Latin American observation about the argentos' envy of the vastly greater success, culture, and behaviour of others, I think that the fuller explanation went something like this:
One of the most complimentary things ever said about argentos came from Octavio Paz, who commented that Argentines are Italians who speak Spanish and think that they are French. This was later corrected and amplified with the observations that ...argentos are Italians who speak Spanish [sort of] , expect North American salaries and wish to live like Englishmen, while giving speeches like the French and voting like the Senegalese. They think like communists but live the life of the bourgeoisie, admire the entrepreneurial nature of the Canadians but organise like Bolivians, appreciate the order of the Swiss but practise the disorder of the Iraqis. They speak a vulgar language that comprises 1184 words for theft and deceit yet not a single term for honesty, the concept of which does not exist in their culture.
Wow. I have never realised how obsessed you are with Argentina and argentine people. You must go the shrink immediately. Such levels of hate and hard feelings won't leave you to have a regular life.
Let me add something: in regular and daily life nobody in Argentina remember either the Islands or the islanders. That makes your psychological status even more pathetic...

I must have missed the words 'Islands or Islanders” or is it your pathetic idiocy, oh, and your clear feelings of inferiority?
@5 I submit that pgmannerless is either sightless, or does not live in Argentina, since the overwhelming majority here are pummeled on a daily basis with the government's reminders about the Falklands. If there is an entity in need of mental health help over the matter, it would be the Argentine government.

[* 'silver-fish' it's relevant, trust me!]
And here's another..
(just for those who are obviously are positively transfixed by my every missive... - NOT!)
I would like to discuss the odd coincidence of the etymology of the actual word 'Argentina' these current 'lifeless silver fish'.
Any comments?
;-)
