Brexit campaigners have hit out at former foreign secretary William Hague after he claimed the Falkland Islands could fall to Argentina if the UK votes to quit the EU. In comments “rubbished” as scaremongering by Leave campaigners, Mr. Hague warned of an uncertain future for Falkland Islanders. Read full article

Many of my former business contacts have also come to the same conclusion.

This abject lying and twisting of demonstrable facts to suit 'Remain' has been the best thing for 'Leave'. Treating people like small children never works.

    VOTE LEAVE!

Conventional wisdom says that the status quo will win but whilst they continue with this scaremongering and patronising of the public, there is hope.

@3. You use the words “scaremongering” and “patronising” but I have another one. Threatening. Let's consider the “business” people who are constantly commenting. On a regular basis, we hear of particular business-oriented organisations “warning” about the potential, always bad, effects of Brexit. What has it to do with them? Their businesses don't get a vote, their vote isn't “weighted” because they own or operate a business. But if they own or operate a business, it is open to them to make the future lives of their employees truly miserable. Think of the things they could do. Their situation is most likely secure. Who decides on their remuneration? Suppose they cut everyone's wages, citing increased costs? Suppose they close the business down and depart for foreign climes? Yes, the law might eventually catch up with them, assuming that those who are suffering can make their voices heard or have enough money. At which point they get handed some laughable penalty and walk away.

Their threat is unspoken, but it's still there.

I expected a lot better from Hague .
Their arguments to remain are really clutching at straws now .

“The Falklands face threats from Argentina”.
More fantasy than reality. It's not the 80s, theres no dictator, but by all means deploy a super taskforce. Observe some penguins.

The biggest threat to the kelpanites today is broadband internet which shows what real life is like.

“The biggest threat to the kelpanites today is broadband internet which shows what real life is like.”

On the contrary, it gives the Islanders more chances to expose Argentine bullshit and lies concerning the history of the Falklands.

The internet is another method to bypass Argentina when it is belligerent.

Broadband Internet is hardly a reflection of what real life looks like...
    Take this forum for instance...
The mighty British Empire still exists here....
....and Britain is 99% certain to leave the EU judging by most of the comments and Brexit support...

psssst.....a nod's as good as a wink.... you heard it here first
                                                                            It's not true

Who defended the Falkland's=Britain or the EU
who of our so called friends helped Argentina= France , Spain , Belgium ,
and a few others refused to take sides,

who will defend the Falkland's if we STAY and become part of a European superstrate, Britain or the new European army , navy , air force ,
    or the EU government ??

the biggest danger to the Falkland's must be the pro EU government and the EU,

    stay and pay,

    or
    Leave ,
Leave will be the best for an independent sovereign great Britain,

    just my opinion.

    Briton...
Most people don't really care about the Falklands...
Hell...I don't care if my next door neighbour was invaded, as long as I'm not invaded..
The chances of a European Superstate with over 500 million citizens being invaded is remote...
...and I like the idea of lots of foreigners dying to save me.... in the huge EU army....
Sovereignty is overrated....causes nothing but extreme Nationalism and wars....

Besides...I like to mooch about Europe with no restrictions, passing through countries like a breeze....then back to Blighty with it's huge moat...always been a great deterrent...

Germany is now increasing their military strength,
China is reportedly over taking the USA and the UK navies ship for ship
    according to the defence news,

and still Britain wont make a commitment to actually order any new front line ships.

vote leave, and we might just afford lots new ones instead of just promises.

    @ 14

You don't speak for “most people” - We cared in 82 did we not ?

“Superstate Invaded” It happened in 39 and its happening everyday now, a few thousand at a time, just without tanks - take a look around.

If you don't care about your neighbours, why would they care about you ?

Sovereignty overated - why then odid we fight in 39 & 82 ?
