Nobody in their right mind would 'desire' to go to Deseado in a small boat.

Penny to a pound she never leaves...

“Militants and local authorities lined up at the port to celebrate her arrival.”

Nothing ever changes with the argies, STILL celebrating a disaster of epic proportions.

Do you think they will mint a medal for the idiots who brought her 'home' - I bet they will!

Firstly, this group abandon a non-sinking ship. Then it drifts towards the Falklands and is recovered and returned to the owner after he pays the berthing fees and the bunch of idiots celebrate its return?

It is like something from Monty Python. Give us the Falklands or we will cause an unarmed and abandoned yacht do drift in your general direction!

Given that they are celebrating its return they presumably regard this as some sort of success. Are they going to set it adrift again? I am sure the Falklands are quaking in fear at the prospect! :-D

Well, a couple of years ago they celebrated the Arg Navy's invasion of the Falklands. Because they have no ships, the staged the reconstruction in… .wait for it… .canoes! Pfffft..giggle… .

I know it's not as hilarious, but probably they were celebrating getting their boat back after over a year. Not to mention the safe arrival of the crew after a trip over a rough ocean with only sails for power.

Camporas and Quebrachos have come back from the Falklands with their boat and an extra stamp on their passports which wasn't there before .. The whole incident was very funny .. Many Argentines wanted the boat sunk because of the owners.. the FIG should have kept it for practice by Falklands Cadets as it was bought to harass the FIG and the Islanders in the first place. It could have been sunk somewhere visible to create another “tourist feature” for visiting Argentines to ask to see. To return it without charging for the recovery, Quebrachos will not pat you on the back for being decent..

The Argentines welcomed a rusty sailing ship that almost sunk.

Some of us went to the South Coast in 1982 to welcome back Invincible (that was worth going to see). She looked great especially after being sunk 5 times before making it back to the UK.
Next they'll be setting adrift a raft from the Falklands and celebrating it docking in TDF Wow!

Speaking of the mighty argentine armada -- it seems as though this summer will mark another year without the still-not-ready-after-9-years-of-repairs, the icebreaker ARA Almirante Risible.

The last we heard all the governments had lied about the relative completion of the repairs, the channel the ship would need to leave is silted in and needs to be dredged, nobody could figure out how to actually get the dredging done, and even if they could figure out how to get the dredging done, they have yet to agree on where to dump the material dredged from the channel. Nor had they even determined who could make a decision on where to dump that material. It's not as if this country had a shortage of dump sites.

And speaking of dump sites: one of the argie bases in the British Antarctic Territory can't seem to figure out what to do with all the containers of waste (read: shite) that they have accumulated, since the present government refuses to procure the services of a ship capable of getting there to remove that waste. So it just.... accumulates....

Sort of makes the abandonment of that sailboat fit right in.

Ooh...you do tell porkies - you know full well that Invincible was sunk and that the one that you saw was a clone built in secret by the Americans.

    Forget about the camper's failboat.

Is the UK going to build a carrier? How embarrassing to send your last one to the scrappers.

    @chronic

Is the UK going to build a carrier?

What, other than the Queen Elizabeth and the Prince of Wales being built at present?

The Illustrious is a 'Through- Deck- Cruiser.' The Queen Elizabeth IS an aircraft carrier.

The stealth technology on it must be brilliant as Chronic seems unaware of it's existence.

Next, we'll be getting claims from the Malvinistas that their frontline Argentine Tucano 'fighter' (still waiting for those 40 Pampers aircraft that Fat Max was building, amigos!) aircraft have sunk it after flying 8000 miles to UK and back.

Rumour has it that Argentina special forces were going to hijack the Illustrious
on route, take it back to Argentina and claim it was theirs all along,

    so they say ?
