    Vice President Pence to tour the Americas as a token of US interest despite budget cuts

    US Vice President Mike Pence announced he will be travelling to Central and South America later this year. During a conference on Prosperity and Security in Central America in Miami it became known that the Vice President will be touring Colombia -Cartagena and Bogota-, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile and Panama City on August 13-18.

    Gunman dead after high-speed police chase, hours before OAS meeting in Cancun

    Another death in Cancun in what seems to be a turf battle among rival criminal organizations.

    A suspect was gunned down in a shootout with police in Cancun at around 4 am Friday, following the discovery late on Thursday of two plastic bags containing human body parts in the hotel district, Mexican officials said. The incident took place in the area housing most of the luxury hotels, less than 48 hours before the June 19-21 General Assembly of the Organization of American States to be held in the city.

    West London skyscraper death toll reaches 30 - figures not final

    On Friday, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, visited the Grenfell Tower site and met with residents and members of the local community.

    London Police authorities have confirmed 30 people died in the Grenfell Tower fire early Wednesday morning, while another 24 remain hospitalised, 12 of whom are in critical condition. Hence, the number of victims is expected to rise and it is still uncertain whether all bodies will be identified.

    Father of unified Germany Helmut Kohl dies

    Helmut Kohl was the longest-serving Chancellor after WWII and second only to Bismarck overall.

    Former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl died on Friday morning in his home in Ludwigshafen, the Christian Democratic Union party (CDU) announced. The mentor of current Chancellor Angela Merkel and architect of Germany's reunification was 87 years old.
