    Wasn't it PE who said that the invasion was carried out peacefully with no danger to the Falklanders ?

    President Galtieri’s address to the Argentinian nation, 2 April 1982

    ''Argentina will maintain its freedom of action to protect the nation's interests and honor, which will not be negotiated... Argentina is not willing to renounce its historical rights over the islands and withdraw from what is hers the armed forces who are and represent the people of our nation....''

    To believe that the Falkland Islands and the territories in the Southern Ocean belong to Argentina because of the inheritance is incorrect.

    “Mrs Thatcher is talking of another Shackleton Report, looking to the future and a longer airfield. After the Goose Green episode she says that sovereignty will no longer be on the future agendas of any discussions with the Argentines, or words to that effect.”

    Ronald Reagan ,''Certainly, we will never alter our view that a people must ultimately determine their own future and certainly we mean this in regard to the people on the Falklands'' (Reagan -Thatcher White House Communication Nov 4 1982, para 2).

    @Brit Bob

    “that the invasion was carried out peacefully with no danger to the Falklanders ?”

    From his perspective (and that context just following the Dirty War) 'peacefully' in Argentinespeak means without killing 30 000 civilians.
