Former Argentine president Carlos Menem rated the government of Cristina Fernandez one, out of a scale of ten, and with a smile told a CNN interviewer that all Argentine governments had been exposed to corruption except his. He also anticipated that Peronism will “rise from the ashes” and return to government in 2019. Read full article

    The Argentine sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands “is irrevocable,” President Carlos Menem said yesterday, adding that his government is “taking great steps to recover what belongs to us.”For his part, Foreign Minister Guido Di Tella explained that the 600 books recently sent to the islanders, “were the best message we could find to communicate and serve us”, both Argentines and Malvinas.

    Who on earth thought it would be good to write a story based on former president Carlos Menem's opinion on the future of Argentine politics?
    Come on, MP. There are enough interesting things going on right now in Argentina. The only relevant thing about Menem today is the many Argentines to whom the work of the current government reminds of the 1990s.

    ”...But he insisted Kirchenrism is not Peronism, it is something completely different, ”look where it led us to”.

    Menem is completly correct about Kirchenrism.

    It takes the combined efforts of MP and a Pinochetista to give Menem some shadowy entity. But politically, Menem is a walking dead and nobody in Argentina cares about his political “analysis.”

    In the 1990s Menem, just like current president Mauricio Macri did, scammed the Argentines by promising exactly the contrary of what he ended up doing as president. Menem once admitted it: “If I had said what I was going to do, not one would have voted for me.”

    Macri is made of a different, more cynical material.

    He is being rewarded by the most successful hit of the summer “Mauricio Macri SOB” sung during soccer games, concerts, subway cars and wherever large crowds gather.

    No honeymoon is eternal.

    Really, nobody of intelligence in the world cares about your political “analysis.”

    “Nobody cares...”

    Wow! That sounds like a big orchestra.

    Sorry Chicureo, I probably missed your appointment as everyone's representative.

    @The Voice

    I was already missing the usual BS and it was The Voice who volunteered. “You can't comment because you live soooo far away - and what's more, you live comfortably.” Can you write such BS without blushing?

    Interesting how your residency requirements apply only to opinions that differ with yours.

    Surely most MP readers commenting on Argentina never set foot there and never will. By the way...which city did you say you live in?
