Blow to Rajoy: 29 members of the ruling party convicted for corruption

A Spanish court has issued hefty prison sentences for politicians and business people involved in a kickbacks-for-contracts scheme that helped fund Spain’s governing party. The National Court’s decision is a major blow for Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s Partido Popular, fined 245,000 Euros because it benefited from the illegal scheme that was in place between 1999 and 2005.     Do you think Latin America is NOT much like Spain, then? I was referring to the corruption, the subject of this article, but I think there are other similarities.

    Aus and NZ, and to a lesser extent Canada and America, are culturally similar to the UK in many ways. Are Spain's ex-colonies more like that or more like Jamaica and Guyana that don't have so much in common with us?

    Although, I have heard Argentina is more like Italy than Spain, and Italy has it's own corruption problems.
