Used underground trains purchased from Spain for Buenos Aires' B Line in 2011 are now to be scrapped after finding they were made of an alloy containing carcigenous asbestos. Read full article
Around 4 million euros were paid for the cars in 2011 when Mauricio Macri was still mayor of Buenos Aires.
Good for MP for publishing this story, ignored by Argentina's mainstream media. This is one of the foretelling signs that were buried under the carpet to allow Mauricio Macri become president, precisely on an anti-corruption agenda.
Add to the mix that Laura Alonso, member of Macri's PRO party and head of Argentina's Anti-corruption Office, has now been indicted after being accused of misusing public funds.
You are getting these news here but don't go look for it in La Nacion or Clarin. Smaller outlets, however, are publishing this little-known fact revealing that Macri, like the smart Argentine bird named 'tero,' hides his eggs in one place and chirps elsewhere to mislead enemies.
You are trying to spin this into another anti-Macri story but if they were bought in good faith without any knowledge of their asbestos content then nobody in Argentina is to blame. However, if Spain was aware of the asbestos when they sold the trains then they broke Spanish and European law by selling them: https://www.sertox.com.ar/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=11758
I seem to remember that the Kirchners bought some Spanish railway stock that was never actually used and was left to rot in sidings. I don't know if it contained asbestos, but that was a big waste of money!
