The European Commission has told Italy to revise its budget, an unprecedented move with regard to an EU member state. EC is worried about the impact of higher spending on already high levels of debt in Italy, the Euro zone's third-biggest economy. Read full article

The project has substantially regressed since the eec.

It's probably a good thing that Germany, France and Italy and certainly the Balkans have had to sacrifice some of their sovereignty given their proclivities for invading their neighbors.
