Estadão Newspaper’s editorial exposed the conservative elite’s sentiment about it:
“For those who still thought it possible that Bolsonaro, given the seriousness of the crisis, would finally become aware of his role and start to act as head of state, and not as head of gang, it must have become clear that the former deputy of the lower clergy will never be the statesman that the country needs. Bolsonaro is definitely not recyclable. ”

    How original of you, Gollum.
One, you “copy” an editorial of the OESP. Because it fits in with your sick, leftist bias.
Two, you select a link from “Brasilwire”.....another crappy leftist source.

Tell me, how come ideology affects you so much when you are locked in your dingy basement ?

Reminds me of something I heard about dictatorships. The reason they are so badly run is because anyone too competent or popular in the government represents a threat to the dictator and must be eliminated. It's kind of worse when Bolsonaro acts that way since Brazil is a democracy and he really doesn't need to.

Chicureo, Brazil's economy minister Guedes supported Mandetta, so apparently he didn't think the cure was worse than the disease. And Guedes goes in for the sort of free-market ideology that you approve of in Chile, he should be right up your street.

My apology for not responding to your earlier valid point.

Whether you love him or hate him, Bolsonaro is not a dictator. In fact, due to the weak executive power granted by Brazil's constitution combined with a strong legislative opposition, balanced by a strong judicial, he really cannot act as a typical one either.

My point, before I was rudely interrupted, was the plight of the poor during this crisis. Middle class, government workers and the wealthy can survive this economic downturn, but the low skilled class is greatly suffering due to the shutdown.

Re your first post on this thread, I take back what I said about the OESP editorial, but not what I said about Gollum - he only mentioned it because it attacks Bolsonaro. Even if he were criticized by one of his sons, Gollum would lick the son's boots.

    But getting back to the OESP editorial, must admit, the journalist isn't wrong.....and to be quite frank, I too - as I have mentioned before - have my reserves regarding some of B's attitudes.... but as Chicureo said, B is not a dictator;
Given that he has a hostile Congress against him - right from the start because he tried to avoid appointing politicians to Ministerial positions - he just does not know when to accept advice from people who know better than he does, and to shut his trap....unfortunately, he is digging his own grave...not in the sense of being impeached, or, anything like that, but by losing popularity. Seems he cannot bear the thought of one of his Ministers becoming popular (and threaten his candidacy in 2022 ??) , and feels the uncontrollable urge to clip their wings, or sack them...instead, he should feel proud of them, and take the credit for having appointed them.

But to B's credit, he lead the move (approved by Congress, because it reflects well on them, as well) to transfer dozens of billions to health care, to supplement salaries of registered workers who had them reduced, as well as to transfer money to those who have lost their wages/daily income (mainly amongst the really poor). But that's irrelevant...isn't it ?

Of course Doria is not a socialist....not agreeing with B doesn't make him a socialist anymore than it does me.....

Homero Fonseca, as expected from any contributer to Brasilwire, is biased and is not being totally truthful. He dabbles in fake news and has gone as far as trying to get the Federal Bar Association to submit a request to the STF to suspend Bolsonaro. He, like most of the leftist elite (including the 'toad') just wants to see the house catch fire.

So he did. Looks like a cut and paste error, apparently even Terry finds his long list of stupid names too tedious to retype. I usually just ignore his repetitive babble, even his insults are not original.

No, Bolsonaro isn't a dictator - I did say Brazil is a democracy. He's just acting stupid and jealous because Mandetta disagreed with him and was more popular with the public.

You've got to remember that lots of people dying suddenly is bound to disrupt society and the economy is going to suffer one way or the other. Depending how bad it gets people may demand action eventually, and bringing in a lock-down later on like the UK has done is the worst of all worlds. It causes just as much economic damage as doing it early but 10 or 100 times as many people die.

Gollum's below post is just more of his BS...

“Coronavirus: 'Undocumented explosion' spreads around Brazil
With little data available, some scientists are modelling estimates to get an idea of the real number of cases. According one group of Brazilian researchers, there could be as many as 313,000 cases in Brazil - 15 times the official number”

First, the title is “undocumented explosion”....so, if 'undocumented,' how does Ms. Katy Watson conclude it's an 'explosion ? based on a photo and the information that burials in the Vila Formosa cemetery have increased from 40 on a normal day, to about 60 ?

Second, the photo published (2 weeks ago) by the Washington Post, showing rows of open graves in the cemetery, was explained by the mayor of São Paulo....he informed that it is normal to dig plenty of graves after the rainy season, and that they have nothing to do with deaths caused by the coronavirus..

The alarmist article goes on....“With little data available,.....According one group of Brazilian researchers, there could be as many as 313,000 cases in Brazil - 15 times the official number”.....

So there is “little data available”, however enough for Ms Watson to believe “there could be as many as 313,000 cases in Brazil”...

Well, while there might be some sub-notification of deaths by coronavirus due to the fact they aren't able to test everyone, but if there is any truth in these numbers, TODAY, I'd just like to know where the 313,000 cases are....they aren't in hospitals, because we know they don't have that capacity to treat the virus - so, how are they being counted ?

And funny, how come the main media outlets haven't reported this ?
    Sounds like speculation.

But Gollum, as we all well know, publishes 'anything' he believes will look bad for Brazil's current anti-left governments (both Federal and State of SP), and might make the PT, and Lula the opportunist crook that ruined Brazil 5 years ago, look less worse than in fact they are.

Sounds like we mostly agree about Bolsonaro for once. But as for estimating number of cases, 90% are mild and don't need to go to hospital. Without testing they'll never know if it was the coronavirus or flu or an ordinary cold. And Brazil is not testing enough to know (the UK isn't either). Comparing number of deaths vs cases for different countries, one can only conclude cases are hugely underreported in many places. And the deaths aren't necessarily a full count either. China just upped theirs by 50%, and it came out that our government had only been reporting those in hospitals and omitting a large number in care homes. It's not hard to think Brazil's total may also be an undercount.

    DT,
Regarding Bolsonaro, I'm perfectly capable of separating the wheat from the chaff...and as events take place, it's only natural that I might re-evaluate some opinions. I don't believe in hitting my head against the wall.

While I see most (or some) of the good things he's done - which the press either omits, or skips over with minimal attention - the media in general makes a point of focusing on what is not too good, such as some of his contradictory rants - which translate into nothing - and plug it to exhaustion. Obviously, if that's all people hear, it's gonna influence quite a few.

COVID-19 : Fully agree that 'many' cases of people who become infected, one way or the other - seriously, or not - are either ”mild (cases) and don't need to go to hospital”.....or don't even know they are, or were infected....so in these cases, if there is no hospital record, how can they 'estimate' a number of 313,000 cases ?

And, if 90% are mild cases, obviously these people aren't going to die from the virus....so why the alarm, and report - speculatively - that the cemeteries are going crazy digging new graves ?

At this point, if Brazil (and the UK ) aren't testing enough, it's simply because they weren't prepared for it (once the first cases were diagnosed), and still haven't obtained the capacity to (test everyone)....very few countries were, or anticipated its seriousness and had the opportunity to act before it spread out of control.

Not sure how many, but quite a few deaths, presumably caused by the COVID-19, were later found out to be from other causes, so, to a far smaller extent, there might be overreporting.

I don't underestimate the virus, so much so I've taken confinement seriously - and I'm fully aware that numbers may not be 100% correct, but at this point, to shoot a number of 313,000, without reliable data, is pure speculation by Ms. Watson.

Currently mulling with a Viña Arboleda Carménère this evening. Considering Brazil has over 230 million people, obviously it's impossible to accurately determine the actual COVID19 mortality, but the economic impact on the world's economy is far worse than current indicators. This disruption will take MONTHS to reset back to normalcy.

I think personally my niche will easily adapt, but there is an enormous monetary retraction that will result in an unpredictable monstrous heavily indebted market that's frightening.

“how can they 'estimate' a number of 313,000 cases ?”

By comparing to other countries with better testing programs. Eg, according to the reporting site, Germany has 4,538 deaths and 143,724 cases, and the UK has 15,464 deaths and only 114,217 cases. It's a safe bet the true number of cases in the UK is several times higher than that and they just aren't being detected, and same with Brazil.

Looks like they are basing the estimate on the fatality rate in South Korea, which has the most comprehensive testing and should be close to the true figure. They also adjusted for the population pyramids, since countries with a higher proportion of older people would expect to see a higher fatality rate, and also adjusted for the delay between infection and death - people dying today would have been infected approx 10 days ago, and the rate of infection will have continued to rise rapidly in the meantime.

I think it's that last one that makes the numbers so high - on the 8th there were only 820 deaths, by the 18th there were 2361. By the 28th they expect this number to have multiplied again, and those deaths will be people who are already infected today.

And why the alarm? They believe the epidemic is more advanced in Brazil than the official statistics show, and that will mean a much bigger problem and more deaths in the end. Only time will tell if the estimates are correct.

It's a pity more countries did not react quickly, like South Korea and Taiwan, or Germany. Now the others are left playing catch up and people are dying as a result.

As for Bolsonaro, his rants don't always translate into nothing. He's fired Mandetta and is trying to reopen the economy despite the peak being weeks away. He also kept churches open which probably helped spread the disease. How many people will die as a result?

    Chicureo
“This disruption will take MONTHS to reset back to normalcy.”

“how can they 'estimate' 313,000 cases ?” while obviously they’ve selected specific trends on which to base their prognosis, it was more of a rhetorical question - still think there’s a lot of speculation.
Not all countries took measures against COVID-19 in its respective initial stages of spreading, ‘n the fact that whole populations can’t be tested is a big obstacle to clear data.
Density of population, and its collective behavior - respecting social distancing, or not - are different, and obviously affect where and how fast it spreads.
In SP, most people who disrespect the recommendations are those in the distant suburbs (C,D,E classes).
In Rio, where the situation is particularly bad, many people carry on as if the threat were low.
“…and they just aren't being detected, and same with Brazil”….they may never be, if ‘mild’ cases. In any case, I believe a 2nd wave will appear in the next few days, as the ‘irresponsible’ become infected.

“And why the alarm” ? perhaps it serves the purpose of making people stay at home.
As far as “estimates (being correct)” are concerned, if they don’t change them, would like to see if their predictions pan out.

Re Bolsonaro and “translating into nothing”, I’m talking about LAWS.
The fact he fired Mandetta (politician-doctor with more experience in politics than as a doctor) IS a pity, as apparently was doing a good job….but his successor, an experienced, highly respected doctor, won’t need to defy B over re-opening the economy, as Governors, and Mayors have the authority to do what THEY believe is right.

    Chicureo
See (way above) Gollum is changing tack ‘n resorting to sarcasm….perhaps he’s realized that his long rants in his favorite language, or, 'BS' : ‘definitions’, quotes, leftist sites, false premises, feeble insults – proffered in blind rage) weren’t having the desired effect.
No point asking about his military service during the Cuban missile crisis…it's all lies.

There are a number of world leaders, and American governors who are defying the “experts” and not shutting down their economies. For example, the South Dakota governor.

    https://video.foxnews.com/v/6150122903001?fbclid=IwAR24sXx3tiQMGIpLbukld-ve1CgHtzYuD2Sm6WXfFbs8CmyvygQzlDkbawo#sp=show-clips

I've attached part of a prior post from another article here as well...

In this calm quiet period, over a third of Latin Americans have lost their livelihoods and financial reporting show negative growth GDP numbers projected for the second and third quarters. Scary to say the least...

Bolsonaro understands that the consequences from a pandemic economic repercussion is far more dangerous to the over 230 million Brazilians than the virus itself.

Meanwhile, another beautiful day here as ma jeune mariée awoke to find the final completed orchid pots survived the kiln and she prepared a Hachis Parmentier (sort of a French version of shepherd's pie) using the leftover lamb, vegetables from the garden and goat cheese.

I pulled out of the pantry our Lello Musso Lussino integrated freezer machine and made 1.5 liters of pomegranate gelato. (I was scolded a bit for not making a sorbet, but she approved of the result.)

It's a surreal world I'm experiencing as I'm teleconferencing my business affairs, while preparing gelato and listening to soft classical music. The smell of bread baking lingers in the air and ma mariée is busily glazing ceramics.

This is Hell, but we just don't recognize it yet...

Interesting link on “governors defying the 'exerts' ”.....while I'm not underestimating the virus' potentail to kill, you always get some leftist idiot - this time Lizzie “Pocahontas” Warren, trying to 'appear' and politicize the issue....as the governor pointed out, Lizzie simply neglected to mention that the 'processing plant is a critical part of infrastructure, food supply for the nation'....she should crawl back into her hole - she could always join Gollum - provided he promises to not eat the old bag alive.

And, Gollum is back with his fake mug.....it proves nothing, other than he got a mug engraved at the local mall.....WhoTF does he think he's kidding ?
The fact he actually shows it, underscores his pathetic superciliousness.....he probably holds it in front of his belly, looks in the mirror, and asks, “is there anyone more stupid than me” ?

His fixation with Bolsonaro makes me think he'd like to hide his inflatable Long Dong in the closet and spend a night with our president.....and strangely, he thinks no one else has access to the news.

But enough time spent on the lying creature and his bag of shite !

Glad to hear your Arboleda Carménère was good.....but don't fret, even with your “Lello Musso Lussino”, you can't please everyone, all the time...

Re Chicureo's video; wow, it's so politicised it's unreal. “Refusing to devastate her state's economy and ruin people's lives” - biased as hell. “Public enemy no. 1 for the left” - I'm on the left and this is the first I've heard of her. These people sure like to paint themselves as victims! Nor did she say she was defying the experts, but rather that she trusts the people of her state to act sensibly for the public good. South Dakota has a very low population density so it's a very different situation to New York or a favela in Brazil.

I notice that neither of you two is ignoring the experts' advice and going out to get infected. ;)

    JB
“it was more of a rhetorical question - still think there’s a lot of speculation.”

My point is that it's not just speculation, they didn't pull the figures out of thin air. If people think there are only 50,000 cases in Brazil they might not take it seriously enough. And density of population and collective behaviour are going to work against Brazil big time, especially in SP and Rio. A second wave does seem pretty plausible.

“Re Bolsonaro and “translating into nothing”, I’m talking about LAWS.”

Is it not mainly Congress's job to make laws, though? So the President cannot take full credit or blame. But he has a lot of other powers besides that - fortunately not including the power to override the state governors on the lockdown.

From what I understand, Trump under a national emergency, can indeed override state and municipal government — but has chosen to let them determine their actions independently. It makes sense that North Dakota has a very different situation than New York.

Respectfully, you missed my point. Jack and I believe that isolating ourselves and observing social distancing will help achieve lowering the infection rate and save millions of lives. We have that luxury...

However, there is an intangible breaking point where the “cure” to the pandemic becomes far more harmful to the people, than the pandemic itself.

Meanwhile, I'm in serious trouble with Madame DeFarge as all the gelato I made yesterday has mysteriously vaporized...

The press and the governors themselves don't think Trump has the power to override them. For example the governor of South Dakota said she'll “still make decisions in South Dakota that’s best for our state.”

    https://apnews.com/52eb4ee947bd9d4c2da11879675f6783

    The article also says

“While Noem hasn’t ordered businesses to close or issued a stay-at-home order like most other governors have, she stressed following precautions to slow the spread of the disease for several more weeks.”

    “Respectfully, you missed my point.”

That may have been your point, but Fox news was just trying to villify anyone who doesn't agree with their right-wing ideology. People should be able to discuss the costs and benefits of various containment measures without it turning into a ridiculous partisan fight. That just leads to people ignoring the evidence (“defying the experts”) and making bad decisions. Or even worse, to stupid conspiracy theories like the 5G thing.

Doria is in control of the most densely populated megacity in the Americas. I would hope he remains extremely cautious...

Bolsonaro is walking on thin ice, but the unemployed are about to explode.

I would imagine that Trump would not override a Democrat governor any more than a Republican, because he's a ruthless populist and is allowing maverick political leaders to hang themselves during this election year. I believe he does however have immensely authoritarian powers during a national emergency.

It's interesting that arguably the two most important state governors happen to be Democrats and apparently are satisfied with the support from Trump. (I also saw recently that Mario Cuomo is being promoted to replace Biden.)

The USA, Europe, China and Japan can spend themselves through this crisis by assuming outrageous debt. Developing countries however are generally already far overextended and cannot use quantitive easing of their currencies without hyperinflation.

If you'll remember, I made a hasty purchase of the Viña apartment below ours with trepidation, but we also ended up buying his apartment in Valle Nevado as well. The cost of borrowing money is cheap and assets are being auctioned in panic. Curiously, while residential and vacation real estate is being liquidated, farm and commercial properties are maintaining their value and not on the market.

If the USA and the UK markets go into a financial depression, resulting in the Dollar and Pound devalued — I'm probably ruined, but I would have been anyway. If the dollar remains strong most farms will survive practically unscathed.

We are seeing an incredible disruption of everything we thought we understood.

Ok, “her” Lello Musso Lussino…a small but important detail. But I see you have a machine just as efficient, the “Chicureo vaporizer”.

Don’t know why Gollum insists…no one believes his lies….except him. The proof must be hidden in his “mug”, that’s why no one can see it.
He sounds like an embarrassed kid who just got his ass kicked, and while running away, turns 'n shouts “GotYa again”….calls for another beating…Gollum’s experience with inflatables, like Long Dong’s dong, goes back years...as they say, it's as old as the ‘Hills’

    DT
“…they didn't pull the figures out of thin air”…that’s not what I’m saying, but they are projecting numbers for Brazil, based on those of countries with different collective behavioral patterns. Today, there are 45,000 confirmed cases (out of how many tested, don’t know), of which 24,000 have recovered and 2,800 died.
Agree numbers may be wrong, due to mainly sub-notification, but IF - and it’s a big ‘if – people stay at home, the curve should start to flatten after 2 or 3 weeks… but, at the moment, as I mentioned before, many people (mainly) in poorer classes seem to be ignoring all recommendations…I do think numbers – of infected and deaths – will definitely increase, but find hard to believe the idea that – as of 16th April (date of article) - the number of cases, could already have reached 313,000…that’s one week ago, and if numbers were in that region, most must be asymptomatic, as nowhere near that number of people have looked for assistance.

“Is it not mainly Congress's job to make laws, though?” Of course it is, but my point is that B has not tried to push any undemocratic laws through Congress - which means his rants go no further than his listeners’ ears – only the left can’t let it rest. Their agenda is to destroy B, no matter what he does.
And I think if he kept his mouth shut, they wouldn’t have so much to criticize. You’d be surprised how little power he really has…Congress / STF have more.

It's impossible to understand the pathetic subterranean dwelling-demented-delusional arguments... Sméagol is “mad as a hatter!”

“It's perverted inflatable long dong” How do you know their inflatable, is this your personal experience, or did Jack let you watch him using his?
“Regarding brasileiro toilet functions” Already asked and answered.“ Lecturing Brazilian on the complete lack of modern bathroom facilities”
Ana Gabriela Verotti Farah, The Brazil Business, 17 May 2013
Where Do I Put my Toilet Paper? Bathroom Bins
Some people complain about it and say that, besides being weird, this practice is also unhygienic, because people's dirty papers stay there together for a long time instead of being flushed. But it is not that bad. Actually, it is very normal. Simply because we usually don't just throw the paper in the bin; we put a plastic bag inside this bin, and when it gets full – which is the equivalent to say 'constantly' –, it is changed for a new, empty and clear one.
Brazilians don't usually throw away their toilet papers in the own toilet not only because of the trash bins, but also because we are taught that toilets can clog with paper. Also, the sewage system can't cope with the amount of toilet paper that would go straight to the water if it wasn't for the trash bins inside the bathrooms.”

My comments seems to have awoken Gollum - Sméagol from its subterranean lair!

Again the creature shows its perverted toilet fixation which probably is somehow related to a Freudian cognitive psychology and what what is directly shown in Freud's anal stage. The creature's adoration of its inflatable long dong silver doll is obviously also proof of what is a Freudian Phallic stage — that indicates Gollum's anal-retentive demented personality. (This from Wikipedia.)

I find Sméagol's argument regarding Mercopress for slander, fails to deny the criminal Canadian Crown Court records — very telling as well... You'll also note Gollum no longer attempts to deny that the dodgy beer tankard means nothing...

If only the pathetic liar would just admit it's crimes and apologize...

Oh yeah ? and how's that supposed to work ? if he can't prove any of his claims, how can criticism of them, constitute slander, OR 'criminal libel' ? ...(small technical difference, but just semantics)....so much for his ‘legal’ expertise….

His reaction to this imagined libel is childish : he actually, and proudly, admits he “reported you”....and then proceeds to call you 'dipshit' … as I said in a recent post, he sounds like the embarrassed kid who just got his ass kicked, and while running away, turns 'n shouts “GotYa again”….the warm, internal satisfaction of having had the last word.

“Brazilians don't usually throw away their toilet papers in the own toilet not only because of the trash bins, but also because we are taught that toilets can clog with paper”

“...in their OWN toilet” ? and in whose toilet other than their OWN would they throw their bog paper ?
“...and we are taught” ? where, by whom ?
Insistent repetition of a lie or, of a truth only in the substandard homes he lived in.

And all the while, he feels quite at ease to insult you, me, DT....and anyone else who ''dares“ to contradict him.
Am sure medical scientists would love to examine the brown matter in his head.

”what I did more importantly was establish record in their email system“....for what ? the posts themselves are a record in MP's e-mail system....

Another characteristic of the creature is his constant need to justify his lies, attacking anyone who questions his self-proclaimed expertise in almost every field, or who divulges embarrassing details of his intimate relationships....sounds like the reaction of a guilty
    conscience....
What is also pathetic, is the fact that he seems to revel in the images of himself ”kissing Long-Dong goodnight”, as he writes it over 'n over again.

    Jack

It's an interesting world we live in. Last night, our extended family had a video conference together. I've been threatening to go to the farm for this next week, but all our three grown children along with their mother have unanimously decided I'm confined to Chicureo until May 1st. (I've never had my children order me to do anything before, but obviously they've been exceptionally well trained by their mother.)

The wine link I shared reflects what's publicly available, but I can achieve roughly 20-25% less by buying direct by the case. All export sales are tremendously down and it's interesting that many in the retail business are panicking...

We're fortunate here in Chile has an excellent President (Piñera is a Harvard Educated self-made billionaire.) and having a strong independent central bank; with many here trying to avoid default-bankruptcy. Obviously it's very clear many businesses will completely fail within the next few months.

Case in point, the owner of the apartment below ours in Viña, owns 5 strip malls in Santiago as well is a partner in a few restaurants that are tenants of his. He's supporting his two ex-wives, has a high maintenance partner half his age and is highly over-leveraged with zero cash flow. It seems imprudent, but we've purchased his apartment and now another he owns in Valle Nevado. (If someone had told me that I do something like this a month ago, I'd think they're crazy.)

Business rule 1 is never run out of capital and rules 2 & 3 are the same. His home is listed on a properties auction site and I think he'll probably nearly give it away...

Conversely, open lines of credit are offering cheap capital so it's a buyer's market. Most of our family's costs are in pesos and the majority of our income is in dollars. It's become a rare perfect storm in our advantage, which in normal catastrophes is the complete opposite.

(I'd LOVE to introduce stolen-valor Gollum-Sméagol to a group of military veterans!)

Thanks to to Gollum, I can continue my train of thought. (One day he's going to get the unholy Sméagol stomped out of its miserable carcass because of stolen valor.)

The remarkable perfect storm has its dangers here. We have a large labor pool available for harvesting, but intelligent farmers instinctually understand it will only cause serious problems if they try to exploit it. Actual unemployment rates in the Aconcagua Valley are off the chart right now...

We've also kept our employees assured of their monthly income which has created remarkable loyalty, but we face serious social unrest and violence in the coming months. Also, the port workers and truck drivers will predictably stage several work stoppages well into 2021.

Another phenomena we're seeing is the collapse of the automobile market. New cars are not being sold at all, and panicked cash strapped businessmen are liquidating their expensive toys for a song right now...

Probably the worst thing is to be spotted with a new expensive car in the countryside...
...that's why I prefer my battered 5 year old SUV and will continue no matter what I'm offered.

What are you seeing there? What is happening with the general sentiment about the economy there?

Can't help noticing that Gollum thinks he's judge, jury and executioner.....IF he has any notion of the Law, he should know that he's pissing out the pot.
Another thing, as he starts his posts, the list of insults to his addressees gets bigger and bigger....soon he'll have no room left for his 'definitions, citations, and most important, his lies'.
But one very telling factor that he is losing it, and quickly, is the fact that he is unable to express himself correctly...
You'll notice the 'crap' (not meant to be a pun) he alleged about bog paper......“in their OWN toilet” & “..we were taught..”..... perhaps, we should give him the benefit of the doubt, because his blind rage must be the cause of these infantile mistakes.
Despite his calling everyone a “lying bag of shite”, I never cease to have hope, and see the best in people.

    Back to you..
“unanimously decided I'm confined to Chicureo until May 1st”......don't you think that is cutting it a bit fine ? only 1 + week, with the worst still supposed to come ? but I suppose you know what you're doing.
On the other hand, I would stay at home and take advantage of the obscene prices you've got to pay for good wine....

Sounds like the ex-owner of the Viña flat below your's, is pretty cash strapped....high expenses and no cash coming in....would make sense to get rid of a few assets and funnel the cash into whatever gives him cashflow.
If I were him, I'd get rid of his “high maintenance partner”....surely he could procure what he really wants, with far more variety, at far lower cost. When Paul McCartney divorced his second wife, think it cost him US$ 60 million.....he made a quick calculation of the other alternative, and it only came to a few hundred thousand dollars...'n would've been hassle- free.

By now, presume you've heard that Sergio Moro has resigned......not surprising given the hostility towards him from Bolsonaro, who wants to interfere politically in the Federal Police...not good

    Gollum a.k.a Smeagol

That's right, always blame the messenger.....haven't you learned, in all your years of smelly existence, that if you pass something on, “ipsis litteris”, it implies you agree with it....every word ?

So, if Ana Farah wrote “Brazilians don't usually throw away their toilet papers in the own toilet”, besides making her sound like an amateur tourist guide, it also implies, by the use of “usually”, that not all homes use the bin you were/ (and are) so accustomed to, and apparently, love.

Tut, tut Gollum....you've been a naughty creature, lying again….no garbage for you today...go hungry !

    Jack

It's a cool overcast day here and I'm drinking from a large mug of strong coffee with Baileys...

Frankly, I'm drinking too much good wine and not spending any time with my farmland.

My curiosity about your side of the continent is what do you see happening? Do you think commerce will restart back to normalcy in the next few moths, or are we instead facing a worldwide economic depression for several years instead?

I think at night what will happen if all the American Tex-Mex restaurants don't open until next year... ...or worse, the US dollar loses its relevance, but then we're all screwed...

I'm tiring of staying under lockdown, especially since I've always kept myself busy with two vocations, but now I just remote manage our farm and try not to irritate my explosive Occitan-Catalan-Chileana sleeping partner...

...Here's hoping a RAF veteran has the opportunity to shove up that idiotic dodgy tankard up the Gollum's arse before beating the unholy Sméagol out of its worthless miserable carcass...

    ¡Saudos!

Hmm, a professional writer or your unqualified critique of her work, well that's not hard to answer.
“We are one of the most visited Brazilian media channels that publish content in English with more than 50 000 monthly readers. Our simple plain English style of writing does not only appeal to foreign businesses, but a larger audience of Brazilian users keep returning to The Brazil Business to understand their own country.

Oh my gawsh, Brazilian bathroom facilities are completely primitive and pitifully barbaric, as you can clearly see in ALL the explicit scandalous photographs attached... NOT ONE PLASTIC WASTEBASKET is evident!

What do the savage do with all their filthy toilet paper? I'm shocked, truly shocked with their backward sanitary facilities...

Jack, how can you survive under such third world conditions?

Another pitiful example of the barbaric living accommodations in your miserable excuse of a nation...

    . . . . . . . . .

By the way, did you know that an Internet query of Lokal Legend results in a depraved criminal bestial porn cult?
