Portuguese Socialist PM stronger after snap elections
Portugal's Socialist Party (PS) won Sunday's snap parliamentary elections called after Parliament failed to approve in October the budget submitted by Prime Minister António Costa, who will remain in office. But Sunday's results also showed an increase in the number of seats held by right-wing movements.

Northern Ireland recalled 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, when 14 Catholic marchers were killed by paratroopers
Northern Ireland recalled in silence the 50th anniversary of the Bloody Sunday massacre when British paratroopers killed fourteen unarmed Catholic protestors in downtown Londonderry. In a poignant procession families of the victims retraced the original 1972 civil rights march through the city with crowds lining the streets in a show of respect and solidarity.

At least 18 killed in São Paulo heavy rains
Brazilian authorities Sunday reported at least 18 people had died in the state of São Paulo following heavy rains which also left nine other people injured and over 500 families homeless. Among the fatal victims, there were seven children and other four people who were missing, São Paulo Governor Joao Doria explained.
