Illegal miners gunned down in Yanomami Territory

Brazil's Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change confirmed the death of four miners inside the Yanomami Indigenous Land late on Sunday, April 30, Agencia Brasil reported. They had reacted to a raid by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama). According to the ministry, during the action, large-caliber weapons were seized.

Colorado Party's Peña wins Paraguayan elections

Santiago Peña of the ruling National Republican Association (ANR), also known as the Colorado Party, won Sunday's elections in Paraguay and will become the South American country's new president on Aug. 15, it was reported in Asunción. Turnout stood at 63.11% despite voting being mandatory.

Falklands war Veteran and hero Simon Weston has urged PM Rishi Sunak to declassify documents about the attack that left him disfigured and killed 56 British servicemen. According to a piece published in the Daily Express, Justin Stoneman recalls that when Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels Sir Galahad and Sir Tristram were bombed in 1982 by Argentine jets, it was one of the deadliest days for UK forces since the Second World War.
