    St. Helena residents in Falklands can transit to Jamestown via Ascension Island

    Following the completion of the runway works of the South Atlantic Airbridge to Ascension, residents of St Helena living on the Falklands have the opportunity to travel via Ascension Island

    The Ascension Islands Government Resources Directorate has announced new travel arrangements that will enable residents of St Helena to transit between the Falkland Islands and St. Helena via Ascension. The UK Ministry of Defense have introduced these arrangements with immediate effect following consultations with the FCDO, AIG, SHG and FIG.

    US troops to perform joint exercises in Brazilian Amazon

    US troops will be commencing Tuesday a training exercise in Brazil's Eastern Amazon area, Agencia Brasil reported. Operation Core (Combined Operation and Rotation Exercise) 23, which stems from a bilateral defense deal signed in 2015, will bring together 294 US military personnel with the Brazilian Army from Oct. 24 to Nov. 20 in Belém, the capital of the Northern state of Pará, as well as in the municipalities of Ferreira Gomes, Oiapoque, and Macapá, in Amapá state.

    At least one student was killed and three other people were injured during a shooting spree at a public school in São Paulo, Brazilian authorities said. “During the shooting attack, three students were hit.
