A single-engined Cessna 206 airplane stolen from an Aeroclub in Rivera (Uruguay) ended up making an emergency landing in Paraguay after reportedly running out of fuel.

The aircraft was stolen by four hooded armed robbers, who tied up two mechanics working on the plane before taking off with enough fuel for roughly two hours. By the time it was located, the perpetrators had fled the scene, and their whereabouts remain unknown.

The Cessna 206 is a high-wing monoplane, accommodating up to six people. The one stolen Wednesday, bearing Uruguayan registration CX-BKJ, belongs to the Aeroclub de Paso de los Toros. After an emergency landing in San Pedro del Paraná, Itapúa, the aircraft was found, with its occupants gone.

Two mechanics who were carrying out maintenance work on the aircraft were tied up at gunpoint. Their mobile phones were also seized but later retrieved by police.

One of the four hooded perpetrators is believed to be a Paraguayan national.
