Boliviana de Aviación (BoA) on Thursday announced a series of solidarity flights between La Paz and Cochabamba to assist passengers affected by road blockades led by supporters of former president Evo Morales. The schedule may vary according to the ongoing conflict, with potential expansion to other routes.
The blockades, primarily in Cochabamba but also in Potosí, Oruro, La Paz, and Santa Cruz, have caused heavy economic losses, Public Works Minister Edgar Montaño explained: Evidently, the blockades are concentrating on the trunk axis that links Cochabamba with La Paz, but if there is a need to enable routes to other departments, we will do so, he stressed.
The Bolivian Highway Administration reported 27 blockade points nationwide, with Cochabamba having the highest number (14).
In this scenario, the Bolivian Government of President Luis Arce Catacora has filed eight criminal charges against Morales, including terrorism, public instigation to commit crimes, and electoral offenses, Justice Minister César Siles pointed out. It is the beginning of investigations against Mr. Evo Morales Ayma, Mrs. Susette Rodríguez, and against those who are authors, co-authors, accomplices or accessories, Siles told reporters. He also said a prosecuting commission needed to handle the case.
In addition, local media confirmed that an audio recording provided by a farmer in which Morales gives instructions for the siege of La Paz has been proven not to have been generated by artificial intelligence. Initially, the Evistas denied the authenticity of the evidence.
