    Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay insisted that Argentina should refrain from charging tolls until the matter is thoroughly reviewed

    The group of countries that make up the Paraguay-Parana Waterway Agreement Committee suggested Argentina refrained from adopting measures that violate the agreed rules and stop charging tolls to barges passing through Santa Fe. The committee is made up of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

    Lula, Japanese PM discuss bilateral trade and climate change

    Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met Saturday in Hiroshima with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida ahead of the G7 Summit to discuss further cooperation between the two countries, Agencia Brasil reported. Both leaders agreed to expand bilateral trade and combat climate change, among other issues.

    Six judges have already voted in favor of sentencing Collor to over 33 years in jail

    A majority of Supreme Federal Court (STF) justices voted Thursday for the conviction of former senator and former president Fernando Collor for passive corruption and money laundering in a case of Operation Lava Jato, Agencia Brasil reported. So far, the score is 6 to 1 for conviction. After voting Thursday, the session was adjourned and will resume on May 24.
