    Argentina's monthly inflation back to one-digit figures

    The latest Indec data was released less than a week before the presidential runoff between Milei and Massa

    Argentina's National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) announced Monday in Buenos Aires that October's Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 8.3% for a 142.7% year-on-year. These results showed a return to one-digit monthly inflation after 12.7% in September and 12.4% in August for an accumulated 120% in the first ten months of 2023, Indec also noted.

    Private researchers underscore Paraguay's economic progress

    Paraguay's poverty went down from 45.1% in 2001 to 24.7% in 2022

    Private economic studies published recently showed Paraguay was on an upward trajectory. According to Banco Itaú, the South American country's economic activity expanded in the second quarter of 2023 following the normalization of agricultural production after a severe drought last year. In this scenario, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth projection for the end of the year remained at 5.6%, the research showed.

    Astori was elected many times to the Senate, served as Economy Minister twice under President Tabaré Vázquez, and was VP under José “Pepe” Mujica

    Former Uruguayan Vice President Danilo Astori (2010-2015) died Friday at the age of 83 from complications following a hip fracture for which he had been hospitalized since late October, it was reported in Montevideo. Astori had resigned his seat on the Senate late last year due to other health problems.
