  Finland connects nuclear plant to power grid; EU classifies nuclear as 'sustainable energy'

  

  Finland's long-delayed Olkiluoto-3 nuclear reactor connected to the power grid for the first time this month, the plant's operator said, 12 years after its planned launch. Located on Finland's west coast, Olkiluoto-3 is the country's first new nuclear plant in over four decades and Europe's first in almost 15 years.

  Fiftieth anniversary of Stanley Power Station in the Falklands

  

  The Falkland Islands Power and Electrical Section are delighted to be able to celebrate 50 years of service for Power Station ‘B’. On 19 May 1973 Power Station ‘B’ was opened by then Governor Mr E G Lewis CMG OBE, and in attendance were members of the public, alongside Power Station staff and those who built the station.

  Australia approves new coal mine: 2,5 million tons in five years

  

  Despite elected on a climate action platform the Australian government has approved a new coal mine for the first time since it was elected, reports the BBC from Canberra. The government was bound by national environment laws when considering Central Queensland's Isaac River coal mine, a spokeswoman said.

  Lithium exporters announce huge merger in Argentina

  

  Argentina's two only lithium exporters -Allkem (Australia) and Livent (LTHM)- have announced a multi-billion dollar merger. The companies operating in Catamarca and Jujuy will launch a new company valued at US$10.6 billion, it was reported.

  Canadian company JHI to explore for oil and gas in Falklands' waters

  

  Oil and gas exploration company Argos Resources is set to sell its sole asset, the PL 001 production license in the North Falkland Islands, which is estimated to hold around 3 billion barrels of oil, to JHI. After completing the transaction, Argos plans to seek to delist from AIM and wind up the company.
