  Huawei Technologies founder Ren Zhengfei said “there’s no way the US can crush us”, according to an interview he gave to BBC. “The world cannot leave us because we are more advanced. Even if they persuade more countries not to use us temporarily, we can always scale things down a bit,” he said.

  IBM to launch research center on Artificial Intelligence in Sao Paulo

  

  IBM is set to launch a research center in the Brazilian city of São Paulo focused on development of solutions around artificial intelligence. The AI center will be the first Latin American institution of IBM's AI Horizons Network. It will be jointly run by the company and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) to pursue “a disruptive research program”, with the potential to “promote paradigm shifts in AI.”

  Two new South Atlantic trawlers to be built at Nodosa shipyard, Galicia

  

  The Galicia, Spain-based boat-builder Nodosa Shipyard has received orders for a pair of new Spanish trawlers during the past month. In its most recent order, Nodosa signed a contract with the Spanish harvester Pescapuerta Group to build a new freezer stern trawler for fishing in the South Atlantic. It aims to have delivered the vessel by the end of 2020, ready to enter full operations for the spring 2021 season.

  Falklands' air service latest incorporation delayed waiting for airworthiness documentation

  

  In January, a newly leased aircraft from Britten-Norman arrived in the Falkland Islands to provide an additional resource to the Falkland Islands Government Air Service during the height of the summer season. The plan was to carry out a 100 hours inspection and to fit flotation tyres before the aircraft – registration G-BCEN – would begin to carry passengers.
