    Harmony is built on the same platform as Royal Caribbean's giant Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas, the previous size leaders in the cruise world

    The Royal Caribbean's 226,963-ton Harmony of the Seas, on late Saturday departed on its maiden voyage out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, its new long-term home. Escorted out to sea by a flotilla of jetboard and jetpack performers, the 16-deck-high vessel set sail on a short, three-day trip that kicks off a week of welcoming events. The events include an official christening ceremony scheduled for Thursday.

    EU and Canada sign free trade accord, but has to clear 40 European parliaments

    Canadian PM Justin Trudeau (C) signed the treaty along with heads of EU institutions, a step that should enable a provisional implementation of the pact early in 2017.

    The European Union and Canada signed a free trade agreement that aims to generate jobs and growth though it must still clear some 40 national and regional parliaments in Europe in the coming years to enter fully into force. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signed the treaty along with the heads of EU institutions, a step that should enable a provisional implementation of the pact early in 2017 with the removal of most import duties.

    Chilean group interested in Alas to meet with Uruguayan government

    Alas Uruguay hopes to survive through new investors

    Chilean airline LAW (Latin American Wings) had submitted a letter of intent on Friday and now it intends to go ahead with the talks. Company representatives are expectd to arrive in Montevideo on Thursday to hold meetings with Alas Uruguay authorities and with the Transport and Public Works Minister Victor Rossi.

    Uruguayan pulp mill passes pollution tests - Gualeguaychú not quite

    Controversial pulp mill not as polluted as Argentine side of the river

    An Argentine-Uruguayan commission took 50 samples of effluent from the pulp mill off Fray Bentos and as many in the Gualeguaychú mouth of the river in Entre Rios. Botnia passes test. The reports from the samples collected on the Argetine side recorded more polluting than those found off Fray Bentos. The plant's formal name is “Orion” but is widely known for its original Finnish name Botnia.

    Argentina invests heavily in major dry bulk and vegetable oils port terminal

    The terminal is capable of unloading 600 railway cars and more than 1,200 trucks per day. According to AGD, it handled 13 million tons of exports last year

    Falklands celebrating 30 years of the Fishery that transformed the Islands

    The fishing industry accounts for 40% of the Falkland’s Gross Domestic Product, which, said Mr John Barton was “considerable progress in 30 years”.

    The Falklands Islands are recalling a milestone decision for the development and transformation of the economy of the country. On October 29, 1986 a Proclamation declaring the Interim Falklands Conservation and Management Zone was signed by Governor Gordon Jewkes. Director of Natural Resources, John Barton pointed out at a presentation on Wednesday evening to mark 30 years of Falkland Fisheries.
