  Once again, Argentine diplomacy major blunder, this time in Nicaragua

  Argentina again commits a major diplomatic blunder, this time at the taking office ceremony of Nicaraguan president-dictator Daniel Ortega. The four-time president was reelected in what has been considered a fraudulent, illegitimate voting process with some forty opposition members, including presidential hopefuls, imprisoned and impeded from participating.

  No change in sight for downspouts – particularly of the Paraná river

  

  The Paraná River Tuesday recorded once again a minus 46 centimeters downspout in front of the capital of the Argentine Province of Entre Ríos, thus repeating Aug. 18's all-time low, Argentine Coast Guard (Prefectura Naval) confirmed, as the entire country goes through an unprecedented heatwave.

  Ortega sworn in for fifth term, fourth in a row, and second with his wife

  

  Commander Daniel Ortega Monday received the Nicaraguan presidential sash from Parliament Speaker Gustavo Porras at Managua's Plaza de la Revolución during a ceremony attended by allies such as Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro and Cuba's Miguel Díaz-Canel.

  Colombian woman finally granted euthanasia procedure

  

  Just one day after Víctor Escobar became the first non-terminal patient to die through euthanasia in Colombia following a long legal battle, the 51-year-old Martha Sepúlveda followed suit. She suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

  Colombian President removes tariffs from agricultural inputs

  

  Colombian President Iván Duque has signed into law the new initiative which applies 0% tariffs on imports of inputs for agriculture and livestock production while creating a fund to benefit small and medium local businesses. The measure seeks to lower costs for medium and small farmers, in addition to encouraging the use of environmentally friendly inputs.

  First non-terminal patient dies through euthanasia in Colombia

  

  The 60-year-old Víctor Escobar has become Colombia's first non-terminal patient to die through euthanasia, after a legal battle of over two years. He was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that prevented him from breathing on his own.

  Latam Airlines Colombia cancels 53 flights due to COVID-19

  

  With 18% of its crews on sick leave due to COVID-19, Latam Airlines Colombia has been forced to cancel some 53 domestic flights between Jan. 8 and 16. Most of the cases were said to be of the Omicron variant.

  No human or wildlife damages reported after Galapagos volcano eruption

  

  Ecuador's Geophysical Institute has reported the Wolf Volcano, located on Isabela Island, the largest in the Archipelago of the Galapagos, went into eruption early Friday. The volcano, the highest of the Galapagos, is some 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the nearest human settlement.
