
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will be touring Uruguay, Paraguay, and Chile between February 28 and March 8, it was announced Monday in Berlin. The head of state will attend Yamandú Orsi's inauguration in Montevideo on March 1. He is also scheduled to meet with Paraguay's Santiago Peña and Chile's Gabriel Boric Font.

Paraguay's National Directorate of Tax Revenues (DNIT) announced Tuesday that collection last month far exceeded expectations after posting a 9.1% yoy improvement. Paraguayan President Santiago Peña Friday underlined the importance of trade openness and multilateralism during his speech at the World Trade Organization's (WTO) headquarters in Geneva. Paraguay's Central Bank (BCP) released a report Monday showing that exports fell 7.7% in 2024. However, some items scored significant improvements, as sales abroad totaled US$15.84 billion, while imports amounted to nearly US$16.38 billion. This represents a 3.6% increase for a trade deficit of US$538.8 million, against a surplus recorded the year before after a 2.3% overall contraction.

Paraguay's review by the international rating agency Standard & Poor's (S&P) has been upgraded from stable to positive, it was announced Wednesday in Asunción, as President Santiago Peña welcomed this new recognition.
