Argentina recalls the 38th anniversary of the Air Force baptism of fire on May first 1982

Defense minister Agustín Rossi called on Argentines to claim sovereignty over the Falklands/Malvinas Islands with the same character displayed by the Argentine pilots during the 1982 South Atlantic conflict with the UK and underlined it's up to the new generations to make sure the Malvinas cause is not forgotten.

Chilean police arrested dozens protestors during May Day demonstration

Chilean police on Friday arrested dozens of people, including press photographers, when they broke up a May Day demonstration in the capital Santiago. Demonstrators had gathered in the city's Plaza Italia in defiance of a government prohibition on public gatherings of more than 50 people as part of measures against the coronavirus.

Falklands' eases restrictions for schools, nurseries, businesses and FIG, beginning May 11th

The Falkland Islands Government on Friday announced it will be easing some restrictions in its response to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The steps, approved by Executive Council, will over coming days include reopening schools and nurseries, permitting greater social mixing, and allowing non-essential work and activities with some exceptions.

Falklands goal to keep Islands Covid-19 free: testing facility should be running by next week

Falkland Islands lawmaker MLA Barry Elsby called for efforts to focus on keeping the country as Covid-19 free as possible. Speaking to Penguin News on Wednesday, MLA Elsby said that the Falklands’ isolation presents an opportunity to remain relatively Covid-19 free, adding that “as much should be done as possible” to maintain that state of affairs.
