China-funded port in Peru poses threat to Chilean foreign trade operations

A China-sponsored mega-port north of Lima is expected to revolutionize trade between Asia and South America. It would also jeopardize the future of seashore facilities in northern Chile which might lose some of their traffic share once the Chancay Megaport is opened. Works are 93% completed and are due to be finished in November.

Brazil postpones rescue mission in Lebanon

Operation Cedar Roots has been postponed due to unsafe conditions reaching Beirut's International Airport by land for the some 220 Brazilians stranded in war-torn Lebanon, Agencia Brasil reported Friday. According to the latest update, the FAB aircraft is now scheduled to take off Saturday from Lisbon, Portugal, to the Lebanese capital.

De Moraes says X paid fine to a wrong account

Brazil's Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre De Moraes said Friday that tycoon Elon Musk's social platform X had paid its R$ 28.6 million (US$ 5.24 million) fines to a wrong account and ordered this situation to be solved before allowing the service back, Agencia Brasil reported.
