    Crime and Policing in the Falkland Islands: have your say survey

    The survey is intended to give the public an opportunity to provide feedback on their experiences of contact with the police since 2019

    The Royal Falkland Islands Police (RFIP) has reminded that the month long Survey on Crime and Policing in the Falkland Islands runs until Sunday 31 July. The survey aims to gain insight into public perceptions of crime in the Islands and how the police have dealt with reported crime or incidents. It is intended to give the public an opportunity to provide feedback on their experiences of contact with the police since 2019, in both emergency and non-emergency situations. RFIP is seeking to hear from people across the Islands diverse community.

    Colombian JEP to hear on yet another 303 “false positives”

    Criminal charges have been filed Monday against 22 Colombian military officers for the murder of 303 people who were initially reported as “false positives” (peasants said to be guerrillas gunned down in combat) between 2005 and 2008.

    Former Peruvian Presidential Secretary turns himself in

    Pacheco said he was willing “to collaborate with justice and tell the truth in all cases that are linked to me”

    Bruno Pacheco, the former Peruvian Presidential Secretary and one of the most wanted men in the country turned himself in Tuesday. He is under investigation in a series of corruption scandals for which the head of state Pedro Castillo Terrones has already been summoned to testify. He had been at large for over 100 days.

    Argentina: Unofficial dollar falls after Batakis meets IMF Chief

    The unofficial exchange rate between the US dollar (also known as “blue”) and the Argentina peso fell between AR$ 16 and 17 Monday after Economy Minister Silvina Batakis met in Washington DC with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and the World Bank agreed on a US$ 200 million loan to boost the country's coffers.

    Petrobras output down in second quarter Bolsonaro confident his friend Putin will supply him with diesel fuel

    Petrobras’ hydrocarbons output stood at 2.6 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/day) in the second quarter, down 5% from the same period last year.

    Oil exports by Brazilian energy giant Petrobras fell by 28.5% in the second quarter of 2022, to 531,000 barrels per day (b/d), compared to the same period a year ago, the company said in its quarterly production and sales report. The news comes when the country is looking for cheaper opportunities to import diesel fuel from countries currently free of sanctions.

    A group of political parties supporting the candidacy of former President Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva to return to the Planalto Palace after the October elections, Monday requested the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to fine incumbent President Jair Bolsonaro's Liberal Party (PL) for what they considered was illegal campaign spending.
