  President Lula da Silva said he wants to be the first Brazilian leader whose administration will lend money to the International Monetary Fund. His comments were done following the G20 summit when it was agreed to supply the IMF with additional funding to the tune of 750 billion US dollars.

  US unemployment in March reaches 8.5%

  

  Another 663.000 United States workers lost their jobs in March, slightly more than the 658.000 that had been expected. The US unemployment rate has now hit 8.5%, up from 8.1% in February. Earlier this week, the IMF said it expects the unemployment rate in the developed world to nudge above 10% in 2010.
