Falkland Islands nearing completion of nationwide Covid-19 vaccination programme

The Falkland Islands Government is pleased to confirm that it is nearing completion of the rollout of its nationwide Covid-19 vaccination programme. 95% of those aged over 18 in the community has now received two doses of the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine, providing an additional layer of protection against the coronavirus for the vast majority of the Falkland Islands population.

Argentina strongly opposes UK's firing of missiles in the Falklands

Argentina Friday expressed its government's utmost rejection of the announcement by British authorities that missiles were to be launched at the Falkland Islands. The Foreign Ministry warned that the “alleged defensive condition of the British military base in the South Atlantic is not only totally unjustified, but also represents a threat to the entire region.”

Argentina complains of Uruguayan acquiescence to RAF transport aircraft

Argentina filed a formal complaint Tuesday before Uruguay for allowing a British Royal Air Force transport aircraft serving the Falkland Islands to refuel at Montevideo on April 4, it was reported.

Falkland Islands TRIP and BFSAI TRIP schemes to end on 31 May 2021

There are just two months remaining before both the Falkland Islands TRIP and BFSAI TRIP schemes end on 31 May 2021. Falklands extends domestic tourism incentive program until 31 May, including Easter

The Falkland Islands Government will be extending the Tourism Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) by two months. The scheme, which was due to end on March 31, will now remain in operation until May 31. Falklands residents will have until that date to redeem their vouchers.

World's largest iceberg approaching South Georgia: concerns it could get stuck in shallow waters

The world’s largest iceberg has been captured on camera drifting through the Southern Antarctic Front near the overseas British territory of South Georgia. British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI) used high-speed digital cameras attached to a military transport aircraft to capture rare images of the iceberg as it travelled towards the island.

Royal Navy commodore new Commander of BFSAI at MPC in Falklands

Commodore Jonathan Lett of the Royal Navy officially took over as the new Commander of British Forces for the South Atlantic Islands November 20. He replaces the outgoing Commander, Brigadier Nick Sawyer as head of Mount Pleasant Complex in the Falkland Islands.

Combined exercise, sea, air and infantry landing, in the Falkland Islands

HMS Forth joined the Army and RAF in a combined exercise in one of the islands in the Falklands. After a busy ‘remembrance season’ in the South Atlantic, which saw the patrol ship retrace the route of ships and troops involved in the 1982 conflict, the second-generation River-class vessel knuckled down to more regular military duties.
