  To mark the anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands from Argentine occupation in 1982, the following program has been arranged by Gilbert House for Sunday 14 June 2020.

  This Sunday we will mark Liberation Day, the day when we commemorate, and indeed celebrate, the liberation of these Islands from Argentine invasion in 1982.

  Falklands’ Liberation Day with religious service, parade and act of remembrance

  

  To mark the 30th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands on 14th June 1982, a Service of Thanksgiving will be held in Christ Church Cathedral commencing at 10:00. Members of the public are asked to be seated by 09:45, according to a release from Gilbert House.

  Falklands’ Defence Force marks 30th anniversary of Argentine invasion

  

  The Falkland Islands marked on Sunday the start of the South Atlantic conflict thirty years ago with a ceremony honouring local Defence Force members who were on duty the night of 01 April 1982 when the Argentine invasion.

  Falkland Islands well defended and world opinion tide is on ‘our favour’, says MLA Sawle

  

  The Falklands are well defended, much better than in 1982, and the international opinion tide is turning “on our favour” said Dick Sawle, elected member of the Falklands’ Legislative Assembly recently back from a round of political contacts in New York and Washington.

  Falklands MPA will undergo six months of resurfacing; air bridge confirmed

  

  Two Boeing 767-300s have been confirmed as the aircraft to be used for the South Atlantic Airbridge linking Brize Norton in the UK with the Falkland Islands while the Mount Pleasant runway is being resurfaced later this year.
