    Former DINA operatives convicted in Chile

    With these new convictions, the defendants accumulate over 900 years in prison

    A Chilean court Friday unanimously repealed a previous acquitting ruling and upheld the prison sentences imposed on 59 former operatives of the General Augusto Pinochet military dictatorship (1973-1990) who were found guilty of aggravated kidnappings, mostly of members of the Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR) in what became known as Operation Colombo.

    Chilean judge sentences 64 former Pinochet secret police officers to jail time

    Judge Hernán Crisosto, who is specialized in human rights violations cases, sentenced the former spy agents to 13, 10 and four years in jail.

    Chilean judge Hernán Crisosto sentenced 64 former secret police officers (DINA) to jail time for the detention and disappearance of Washington Cid Urrutia in 1974 during the country’s military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).
